BENSON, N.C. –A Johnston County father has been arrested and charged for allegedly using fishing line to sew up a wound on his son’s head. Johnathan Ashley Avery, 31, of Benson, N.C., was arrested on Friday and charged with felony child abuse.

Priests in Sweden join the ranks of paedophiles

The Catholic Church of Sweden confirms three priests are believed to have sexually abused children over the span of 30 years. It is reported that the paedophile priests, one of whom is dead, sexually abused a collective of five children between 1940 and 1970, thus falling under that statute of limitation. Stockholm Bishop Anders Arborelius said Saturday there could “be no redemption” for the three.

A 29-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of sexually assaulting his children and stepchildren and forcing them to take drugs, Phoenix police said. Police believe the man’s two daughters, stepdaughter and stepson were victims of abuse, Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said. Police believe the abuse took place between 2004 and 2010, when the children ranged in age from 5 to 13 years old.

The details of Nubia Barahona’s death are grisly: Soaked in toxic chemicals, decomposed and stuffed in a garbage bag, she was found rotting on the shoulder of the interstate on Valentines Day. Authorities believe she had been stashed in a septic tank for weeks before her adoptive father dug up her corpse.

Statistically, however, Nubia’s story is rather common: She is one of hundreds of Florida children who died of abuse or neglect during the last decade after child welfare authorities had performed at least one investigation into their welfare. Florida not only leads the United States in the number of such deaths, it dominates the nation.

Police in Minnesota have arrested a 35-year-old EMT worker on horrific crimes after allegedly confessing that he stole narcotics from his employer in Bemidji and used them to drug and then rape a 13-year-old girl while babysitting the teen at her home.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla — A man faces charges of raping a two-year-old girl last week at SeaWorld Orlando after her mother left him to watch the toddler, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The crime was discovered when pictures of the rape were found on Michael Grzybowicz’s cell phone, sheriff’s records state. A member of the Cocoa Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit confiscated the phone.

Judge Larry Thorne ordered today that a 4-week-old admitted to the hospital with multiple signs of physical abuse be released to a rehabilitative foster home.Medical staff determined that the newborn was a victim of physical child abuse. He suffered a skull fracture caused by compression or crushing, a rib fracture, liver injuries, a broken femur and tibia, broken jaw and bleeding of the brain, according to previous Enterprise reporting.

‘Child abuse, financial crisis linked’

DENVER — A teenage boy was covered in lighter fluid and burned during a party in southwest Denver on Valentine’s Day and now eight young men have been arrested.Police received a call at about 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 14 of a boy acting erratically and possibly in need of medical attention. He was stumbling near a McDonald’s restaurant. The boy was transported to The Children’s Hospital for treatment of burns to his hands, chest, neck and face.

PENSACOLA, FL – An Escambia County Sheriff’s Deputy is being held without bond for alleged child abuse. According to the arrest report, Mildred Blanche Goodwin and her son were involved in an altercation. She was attempting to discipline her son, and tried to strike him in the leg with her department issued expandable baton. Her son attempted to block the strike and received injuries to his right forearm and wrist.

The video evidence against Gianna Cochran wasn’t always clear, but a Franklin County judge saw and heard enough to convince him that the baby sitter was abusing children in her home. Common Pleas Judge David E. Cain convicted Cochran yesterday of five felony and seven misdemeanor counts of child endangering, based on secretly recorded videos that appear to show her nearly suffocating children to stop them from crying.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says 60-year-old Urania Lot was arrested in Stock Island Monday morning after she punched, bit and hammered her 18-year-old son for eating his sandwich in the living room. Southfield, MI — A 9-year-old girl, worried that her mother was driving drunk during a trip to the bank, slipped a teller a note asking for help and refused to get back in the car. Latanya Renee Evans, 49, was arrested about 5:10 p.m. Friday after she left her daughter at the Bank of America in the 26000 block of W. 12 Mile. Evans was taken into custody about a quarter-mile away on Northwestern Highway on suspicion of drunken driving, Southfield Police Lt. Nick Loussia said.

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. –  Authorities have charged a western New York woman with drunk driving after police say her 9-year-old daughter wrote a note pleading for help from passing motorists. Police in North Tonawanda say 38-year-old Bonnie Will of Tonawanda was intoxicated while driving her daughter and two other children, ages 8 and 12, when she suddenly stopped her car on a busy road Tuesday.

Mesa, AZ–Child porn doesn’t get any nastier than this, little girls depicted in bondage and bestiality scenes, but that’s what floats the boat of a 60-year-old Mesa man recently arrested by police. Frank Morgan Foster has been charged with 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of minors after child porn was traced to his home computer. During the interview, he admitting that he has been downloading child porn for the past 10 years, and his victims of choice are between the ages 5 to 8.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Three adopted children who allegedly suffered burns and were forced to eat pet food lived in “inhumane conditions” and might never fully recover, an Oklahoma sheriff said Thursday. “They have been raised worse than dogs,” Canadian County Sheriff Randall Edwards told CNN of the three malnourished juveniles, who are 9, 11 and 15.
