LYNWOOD — A Lynwood couple was sentenced today for the beating death of their 2-year old daughter. Miriam Abrego, 25, was sentenced to a prison term of 17 years to life. The child?s father, Michael Lara-Morales, 24, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

One police officer found himself on the other side of the law. George Gibson, 43, from Newark, Ohio was arrested for having a sexual relationship with a young girl that began when she was only 8-years-old. He is accused of fathering three children with the girl, the first of which was born when she was just 15.

A Dallas Texas man, Gary Lee Jackson, 26, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on one count of possessing more than 1,000 images of child pornography and one count of receiving pornography after a woman found child pornography images on a cell phone that he left in her car.

Andrea Endara-Paredes, 24, had been faking a pregnancy, assaulted a mother with a tire iron, then kidnapped the mother and her two children. According to WMBF News, Endara-Paredes released the woman and her four-year-old child, but kept her one-month-old little girl.

ABC and Fox probably won’t give his death wall to wall coverage. Because Jadon Higganbothan was not blond, or a girl – but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t lament what happened to him, or why.

A babysitter has been charged with murder after he allegedly slammed a toddler he was looking after into a wall. Jarrod Rudder, 24, grabbed two-year-old Michael Pulliam by the wrist and smacked the child off a wall and lamp causing multiple broken bones and a brain bleed. Rudder is the boyfriend of the child’s mother Amanda Howell and had been living with them at their trailer park home in Elkville, Illinois.

CEDAR CITY — Emotions ran high Tuesday in Cedar City’s 5th District Court as a Cedar City man who shook his former girlfriend’s infant child, causing fatal injuries, was sentenced to 1 to 15 years in Utah State Prison. According to testimony, Thomas Harry Canum III, 25, was left alone with 14-month-old Cayden Lasseter, the son of his former girlfriend, Molly Gricius, on Sept. 18, 2010.

Texas — Andrea Yates is asking for some of her freedom back. She became infamous in 2001 after murdering her five young children. She was eventually declared guilty by insanity. But now her doctors say she should be allowed to go to church outside the Texas mental hospital where she lives. But the court will have to decide. Her lawyer, George Parnham, says a congregation has agreed to let her come to their church.

Whiteville, Tn – Hardeman County deputies are searching for a mother and her three daughters after they disappeared Friday. No one’s seen or heard from them since. A priest, charged with the attempted rape of a 14-year-old boy, has said that although he let the teenager share his bed and view pornography, he had never touched him. The accuser, who is now 30, testified today that he was 14 when Reverend James Brennan, 48, sexually abused him at his apartment. Reverend James Brennan, 48, was one of several priests involved in the clergy abuse trial which has scandalized the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

A 32-year-old woman faces charges of incest and other allegations in Napa County Superior Court after she was arrested on suspicion of having sex with her 16-year-old biological son from Napa, according to court documents. Mistie Atkinson, of Nice, Lake County, was arrested on a warrant in early March in Ukiah, where police allegedly found her in a hotel room with the boy, according to court documents.

LA MIRADA, CA- Sheriff’s investigators arrested a substitute teacher Tuesday, accusing him of having a sexually-charged relationship with a 13-year-old girl over the Internet. Taylor Welch, 22, was arrested at his La Mirada home on suspicion of conducting lewd acts with the girl and sending her explicit material.
