PORTERVILLE, Calif. – Authorities in California have confirmed a fifth death in a shooting of tribal members on an Indian reservation. Tulare County sheriff’s spokeswoman Chris Douglass says Sunday that an 8-year-old girl is among four family members killed by her father. She was identified as Alyssa Celaya. Authorities say 31-year-old Hector Celaya also killed his mother and her two brothers and wounded Alyssa’s brother and sister, then died in a shootout with police.

SALT LAKE CITY — A former charter school principal was arrested and charged Monday after reportedly admitting to FBI investigators that he had sexually abused “several young boys over the past 35 years,” according to a police affidavit filed in court. That same day, Stephen Paul Niedzwiecki, a former Kaysville basketball coach a science teacher, was arrested and later charged after allegedly engaging in a sexually abusive relationship with a 14-year-old student.

A man is facing the death penalty for the murder of his stepson after the child suffered severe abuse. Nathan Sloop, 34, is charged with aggravated murder over the death of four-year-old Ethan Stacy in 2010. Sloop reportedly told police that he had smashed the boy’s face and teeth with a hammer to conceal his identity before burying his body off a mountain trail. The boy died after prolonged beatings, being burned, drugged and starved, authorities said. He was also locked up and left alone by his mother 29-year-old Stephanie Sloop and her husband at their home in Layton, Utah.

A pedophile who took a 12-year-old girl he was abusing to a notorious dogging site to be raped by another man has been jailed for life. Michael Gwyther, 44, repeatedly raped the youngster and took her to an open-air sex site where he offered to share her with other men. Swindon Crown Court heard Gwyther’s campaign of abuse only came to light when parents of two other girls aged 14 and 15 who he was grooming found out and contacted police. Officers found indecent pictures and an explicit video of the 12-year-old on his phone when they arrested him at his home in Easterton, Wiltshire.

He’s accused of sexually abusing more than a dozen children, and prosecutors say this is one of the most troubling cases of abuse they’ve ever seen. When investigators got a search warrant for John and Marian Burbine’s business and their home in Wakefield, they say they found hundreds of videos, photos and audio recordings of John Burbine sexually abusing more than a dozen young children, including toddlers and even newborns. “The basis of these indictments is chilling and troubling,” said Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone at a press conference Thursday.

Palm Coast, FL – James Irvine, a 41-year-old Palm Coast man, was jailed Saturday morning after he allegedly left his girlfriend’s 10-month-old baby in the care of a pit bull so he could drink at a local bar. According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Irvine’s girlfriend left him in charge of her 10-month-old son Friday night while she was away at work.

Bethel, CT – George Sayers Jr., 46, and his daughter Tiffany Hartford, 23, were arrested Monday after DNA testing allegedly confirmed that the pair had a sexual relationship and conceived a child together. According to Bethel Police, an investigation was launched last February when Tiffany Hartford’s former girlfriend called police to report that Sayers and Hartford were selling pornographic photos and videos of her that had been recorded when she was 16 years old.

SANTA ANA, CA — A youth sports coach convicted of sexually assaulting eleven of his students was sentenced Wednesday to 285 years to life in prison. The judge also sentenced Luis Alberto Pineda to an additional 13 years and six months in prison on 27 felony counts plus several penalty enhancements, and three misdemeanor counts of assault.
