Life is difficult for mothers following the disclosure of a child’s abuse, and they often have few, if any, resources available to them. Mothers sometimes have no supportive family or friends. A cruel mother beat her seven-year-old son to death before torching his body to try to hide her crime, a court was told yesterday. WHY DID NO ONE HELP HER?

A seven-year-old girl died of septic shock caused by 70 internal and external injuries after a family court placed her in the care of two crack-addicts. Tragic Katelynn Sampson was sent to live with Donna Irving and Warren Johnson after her own mother, who was a friend of the couple and also a crack addict, said she could no longer cope. But instead of a loving home, the youngster received a catalogue of appalling physical abuse and despite concerns being raised to the authorities she died in August 2008.  READ MORE HERE

‘The baby has a knife in her’

The Baltimore Police Department has released the 911 calls from a Department of Social Services office where authorities said a mother stabbed her 8-month-old daughter five times during a supervised visit. According to the Baltimore Sun, 29-year-old Kenisha Thomas was arrested on April 25 and charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault and child abuse for allegedly stabbing her daughter, Pretty Diamond, in the head, neck and chest.  READ MORE HERE

Tucson, AZ – Melissa Dalton, a 33-year-old art teacher at Ironwood Ridge High School was jailed Monday after she allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with two students. According to Oro Valley Police, an investigation was launched after a school resource officer was contacted about the allegations and the case was handed over to Oro Valley detectives.  READ MORE HERE

LYNWOOD — A Lynwood couple was sentenced today for the beating death of their 2-year old daughter. Miriam Abrego, 25, was sentenced to a prison term of 17 years to life. The child?s father, Michael Lara-Morales, 24, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison.  READ MORE HERE

One police officer found himself on the other side of the law. George Gibson, 43, from Newark, Ohio was arrested for having a sexual relationship with a young girl that began when she was only 8-years-old. He is accused of fathering three children with the girl, the first of which was born when she was just 15.  READ MORE HERE

A Dallas Texas man, Gary Lee Jackson, 26, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on one count of possessing more than 1,000 images of child pornography and one count of receiving pornography after a woman found child pornography images on a cell phone that he left in her car.  READ MORE HERE

Woman Assaults Mother With TIRE IRON – Steals Her Newborn Baby

Andrea Endara-Paredes, 24, had been faking a pregnancy, assaulted a mother with a tire iron, then kidnapped the mother and her two children. According to WMBF News, Endara-Paredes released the woman and her four-year-old child, but kept her one-month-old little girl.  READ MORE HERE

You won’t read about the fate of 4 year old Jadon Higganbothan on the front page of CNN today.  It’s unlikely that Nancy Grace will rage about him on her show. ABC and Fox probably won’t give his death wall to wall coverage.  Because Jadon Higganbothan was not blond, or a girl – but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t lament what happened to him, or why. The trauma of childhood sexual abuse doesn’t stop after the act itself. The effects of sexual abuse can linger for years, debilitating victims throughout their lives and well into adulthood, according to experts. The anti-sexual violence organization RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) and the Let Go…Let Peace Come In Foundation are two organizations that each year work with survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault in the US.
