Ayla Reynolds
Investigators are combing two chilly bodies of water in Maine this morning as the search for missing baby Ayla Reynolds continues. The Maine Warden Service and the Maine State Police diving units entered the Kennebec River and Messalonskee Stream — both located in the Waterville region where Reynolds was last seen — in hopes of locating the 2-year-old, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. Authorities maintain that Reynold’s father, Justin DiPietro — believed to be among the last people to see Reynolds — has not been forthcoming and cooperative with information regarding his daughter’s disappearance. Police are currently investigating Reynolds blood samples discovered at DiPietro’s home. Divers are expected to continue their search through the afternoon. Earlier this week, Boston-area television station WCBV reported that authorities believed Reynolds to be dead — a claim that state police pubic information officer Steve McCausland dismissed as “unattributed, irresponsible and inaccurate,” according to the Bangor Daily NewsREAD MORE HERE

Jason Gallaway, 32, of Delaware was found guilty of first degree murder by abuse or neglect Thursday. He first reported his daughter Marissa had stopped breathing in December of 2010 at his Seaford home. Posted by Sandra On February - 2 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

The child abuse that takes place in one year in the United States will cost the nation $124 billion over the victims’ lifetimes, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The findings reveal the financial burden of child abuse is just as high or higher than that of costly health conditions, including Type 2 diabetes. “No child should ever be the victim of abuse or neglect — nor do they have to be. The human and financial costs can be prevented through prevention of child maltreatment,” said Linda C. Degutis, director of CDC?s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.  READ MORE HERE

Innocent: Twenty-month-old Ayla Reynolds was reported missing on December 17

Dad of missing Maine toddler Ayla not telling all

Police are pressing the three adults who were home the night missing toddler Ayla Reynolds disappeared to provide a full account of what happened, after investigators confirmed blood found in the father’s home belonged to the child.  State and local detectives believe Justin DiPietro, the girl’s father, and two other adults know more than they’ve told investigators so far, said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. The notion that someone slipped into the small house and took the 20-month-old without awakening anyone ‘doesn’t pass the straight-face test,’ McCausland said.  READ MORE HERE

Feds say Clovis teacher lured girl for oral sex

A Clovis teacher used his darkened, empty classroom to take video of a blindfolded second-grade girl giving him oral sex in what he called “the lollipop game,” a federal investigator says. The disturbing accounts and videos, dating as far back as Jan. 3, came to light after the victim’s mother became suspicious because she could not see her daughter outside with the rest of her class in physical education at Freedom Elementary School last Thursday. The girl’s teacher, Neng Yang, 43, also was not with his class. READ MORE HERE

Dog Mauling Case Grows More Complicated–Parents Meth Users

TARRANT COUNTY, Texas – City of Fort Worth officials are delaying the decision to put down four dogs that attacked a toddler in a back yard near Lake Worth yesterday until they can figure out exactly who owns the animals. The announcement seemingly reverses the statement made earlier Tuesday by Fort Worth Code Compliance, which said the dogs would be put down. Monday afternoon, 18-month-old Chance Walker, Jr., was severely bitten when he crawled through a doggie door at his family’s home and into the back yard where four Boxer dogs attacked him.
