Over a few months last year, three-year-old Charles “Mike Mike” Bradley was beaten, shaken and punched so hard that he flew through the air in what a longtime Anne Arundel County prosecutor said was the worst case of fatal child abuse she has prosecuted in 24 years.

Andre Clay Russell Jr., 29, of Severn, admitted Wednesday that he inflicted the fatal abuse last summer to the son of his former girlfriend. Russell pleaded guilty before Judge Paul A. Hackner to child abuse resulting in death and child abuse. Assistant State’s Attorney Kathleen Rogers said she intends to seek the maximum sentence, 55 years, for Russell. No sentencing date has been scheduled.

Criminals living behind bars for downloading and viewing child pornography are facing more than prison time as a novel — and judicially vexing — series of lawsuits has spread across the country and into Greenville.

Federal prosecutors from coast to coast are receiving requests from victims who a decade since their abuse are seeking millions of dollars in restitution from those who have been convicted of child porn charges but weren’t directly involved in the abuse.

Child abuse in foster care

Posted by Sandra On May - 31 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

FORTY ALLEGATIONS of child abuse have been made against foster carers living in two local health office areas in Dublin.

In three of the cases the carers had not undergone Garda vetting, which is mandatory under national guidelines.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) told Minister for Children Barry Andrews about the abuse cases in March following an audit of its foster care services, which revealed serious deficiencies in a system catering for 90 per cent of the 5,500 children in State care.

“Worst case of child abuse ever seen…”

Posted by Sandra On May - 31 - 2010 1 COMMENT

Cuyahoga County Prosecutors are calling it the worst case of child abuse they have ever seen.

Investigators say Andreia Huffman and her husband, Jason Dunikowski, from Slavic Township, abused their nine children inside their home and left an 8-year-old boy hog-tied underneath a table at night. The boy was not allowed to attend school and suffered numerous broken noses after having his face smashed into the wall.

The torturous acts finally came to an end when the boy’s brother called Cleveland’s Child Abuse Hotline.
