KANSAS CITY, MO – A Kansas City, Mo.,, woman faces felony child abuse charges after her young daughter was hospitalized with multiple skull fractures and other injuries, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Sandra Stanton, 30, has been charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and felony child abuse after ambulance crews and police officers found her three-and-a-half year old daughter unresponsive in the woman’s home n the 1800 block of Askew on May 27th.

CALGARY – Traumatic injuries to a five-year-old child have landed a Calgary mom with an attempted murder charge.

Police revealed few details Thursday after charging the 32-year-old woman, but said child abuse investigators stepped in when the young boy was taken by his mother to Alberta Children’s Hospital on May 27.

The child had problems breathing and was unable to stand — injuries that were not consistent with an illness.

LARGO — A 23-year-old Largo man was arrested Thursday after authorities say he beat an 8-year-old boy whose mother said he had eaten too many muffins. Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies arrested Andrew C. Natanski at 12:35 p.m. Thursday on a child abuse charge.

Child Abuse Underreported in Latin America

Among those who know about physical abuse, 3 in 10 say authorities notified

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Forty million children younger than 15 are victims of violence, abuse, and neglect in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to a 2006 UNICEF report. Much of this violence takes place in the home, but Gallup surveys in the region show most adults who know of a child who was beaten or physically mistreated by a family member in the past month say this incident went unreported.

OCEAN CITY — A North Carolina man accused of sexually abusing a child in Ocean City more than 30 years ago was found guilty when he had his day in court Thursday.

Michael Lowell Barnes, 64, submitted an Alford plea June 3 in Worcester County Circuit Court to child abuse as a custodian. Fifteen other charges of second- and third-degree sex offenses, second-degree assault, and additional counts of child abuse as a custodian were dropped by prosecutors.

73-year old Sex Offender Caught After Tip From “America’s Most Wanted”

RICHMOND, Va. — A man convicted of molesting children in Virginia who was on the U.S. Marshals list of 15 most wanted fugitives has been caught in California.

Marshals say 73-year-old Paul Clouston was arrested Tuesday in Merced, Calif.

Sandy Ridge, NC – On April 22, William Plaster Jr. and Shannon Fortenberry had their 4-month-old son seen in the emergency room at Morehead Memorial Hospital. An examination of the infant revealed three broken ribs, a broken right leg and severe head trauma that resulted in retinal and brain hemorrhaging. An MRI showed signs of healing ribs, a sure sign of previous abuse. The baby boy is currently in a permanent vegetative state with irreversible neurological damage – he is not expected to survive.

BROOKSVILLE — All six children had lice in their hair, some with infestations so bad they had rashes along their hairlines. Most of them had gone without a bath for days, if not weeks. Another had roach bites all over her back.

And the family’s 6-month-old boy was drinking from a bottle “so dirty that it was black in color,” the detective wrote in his report. Inside the bottle, a dead roach was floating around in liquid.
