Amman – A Jordanian carpenter was charged Monday with raping his teenage daughter and then killing her during a botched Caesarean section to terminate a child he had fathered with her, the Jordan Times reported.

“The suspect brought a carpet cutter, cut his daughter’s stomach with it, opened her womb and took the female foetus and threw it in the garbage,” police sources told the paper.

He then sewed up his daughter’s stomach with thread, but could not stop her bleeding. She eventually died.

Two boys aged 10 and 11 were found guilty today of the attempted rape of an eight-year-old girl, but a jury at the Old Bailey found the pair not guilty on charges of rape.

The jury found the children guilty by a majority of 10 to two on two charges each, making them among the youngest defendants ever to be convicted of the crime of rape by a British court. As the verdicts were read out the younger boy sought eye-contact with his mother but both mothers stared straight ahead.

Children need a voice that will be heard. Listen, observe and be that voice. The easiest way to tell if a child has been harmed — emotionally, sexually, physically, medically or educationally — is to listen. If children tell you they’re being hurt or inappropriately touched or if a parent gives you information that leads you to be concerned, take action.

Don’t attempt to solicit additional detailed information by asking the child questions. Your responsibility is to allow the child’s words to be heard by professionals trained to investigate abuse and neglect.

The Boy Scouts’ effort to protect their young members from sexual abuse had large gaps from the start and has significantly fallen behind modern practices. Videos intended to alert youth about potential abuse don’t warn that Scout leaders could be molesters, despite an 80-year record of just such scenarios.

Few of the 1.2 million adults volunteering in Scouts have been required to take training that the Boy Scouts offer.

Richland County is set to be part of the second stage of a pilot program as Ohio implements a family-oriented approach to investigating child abuse and neglect allegations.

The approach, called alternative response, is focused on finding the underlying causes of child abuse or neglect. The state received positive results from 10 pilot counties, including Licking County. The traditional response is more focused on investigating specific allegations, said Sue Wasiniak, intake supervisor for Licking County Children Services.

PITTSBURGH–A Duquesne man wanted on charges of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old child was found in New Jersey in bed with a teenager, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.

Glenn Hicks, 55, of Duquesne, was living in Camden, N.J., where he was found in bed with a 17-year-old, detectives said. Hicks remained in police custody Saturday awaiting extradition.

LINDEN, NJ (WPIX) – The pastor of a Newark church and one of his congregants are accused of forcing teenage girls to videotape the pair engaged in sexual acts at a motel, authorities said.

Rev. Moises Cotto, 55, pastor of the Congregation of Yahweh Templo El Candelero on Chester Avenue in Newark, was arrested Monday night. The East Orange resident is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, attempted aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Vancouver police are warning the public about a convicted child rapist who intends to live in the city when he’s released from a U.S. prison.

Wesley Johnathan Wheaton, 44, is believed to pose a significant risk to both female adults and children, according to police.

American authorities had kept the Canadian citizen incarcerated for the full-length of his convictions after he was assessed to be a high-risk to reoffend sexually.

It has been reported by several media outlets that a 16 year old boy was sentenced to 25-years in prison for raping and killing an eight year old neighbor.

Sam Young of Piedmont, SC plead guilty to manslaughter and criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Young had originally been charged in 2008 as an adult. Charges included kidnapping as well as murder and rape originally. The victim had been found by police in a closet several hours after parents reported her missing. She had been raped and asphyxiated.
