Teen mom threw baby in fit of rage

SPRING HILL – A mother was charged with child abuse following accusations she threw down her 9-month-old son onto the front lawn during a fit of rage.

Jessica Marie Duhaime, 18, of Spring Hill, also was charged with criminal mischief after she climbed into her mother’s van and rammed into the back of another vehicle, deputies said.

Afterword, she punched her mother in the chest, which led to a domestic battery charge, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

University student charged in 16-mth old’s death

CLEMSON — A Clemson University student is charged with homicide by child abuse.
Richard Brandon Lewis, 25, of 701 Cedar Street, was arrested Friday morning on the Clemson University campus by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents and Clemson University police, according to SLED Communications Director Jennifer Timmons.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Hours after grisly evidence was presented in court detailing the rape and burning deaths of a woman and two young girls, the man accused of committing those crimes suffered seizure-like symptoms, his lawyer has told the court. The trial of Steven Hayes has been halted until Monday because of the accused killer’s medical condition.

On Thursday prosecutors showed jurors grim photos Thursday of rope used to tie up victims, ripped clothing and ransacked rooms in a suburban home invasion that began with the suspects trailing a mother and her two girls at a supermarket and ended with their deaths.

RISING SUN, Ind. — A southern Indiana teenager who pleaded guilty to murder confided that he wanted to be just like the TV serial killer Dexter a few weeks before he strangled his 10-year-old brother, his ex-girlfriend testified Tuesday.

Alexis Murafski told a judge about her conversation with Andrew Conley shortly after the 18-year-old defendant read a statement in court in which he said he was sorry for killing his brother and didn’t understand why he did so.

Mother arrested in death of 8-yr old daughter

Ventura police arrested a 25-year-old woman Monday on suspicion of killing her young daughter.

Blair Stockdill’s arrest came after her child was found dead inside an apartment along the 1300 block of Saratoga Avenue about 11:30 a.m.

Police did not release the 8-year-old girl’s name nor did they say how she died or exactly where in the apartment the girl was found. They did say she had been dead for several days.

UPDATE: Police said they have arrested the mother of two children found dead inside a southwest side apartment Sunday night.

According to IMPD, 28-year-old Edyan Farah on two counts of Neglect of a Dependant Resulting in Death. She’s being held on a $200,000 bond. IMPD officers said they were called to an apartment in the 4600 block of Londonderry Court after receiving a call about an unresponsive child. When they arrived, officers found two children, a three-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl dead.

3 Children Found Shot Dead

HOUSTON – Three children were found shot dead in their beds Sunday at a suburban Houston apartment building, and their father was charged with their murders after surviving an apparent suicide attempt, authorities said.

Muhammed Goher, 47, was charged with three counts of capital murder in the Sunday morning shootings, said Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Wagner.

Goher was in stable condition Sunday afternoon at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, where he was being treated for what investigators say was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, Wagner said. A sheriff’s office statement said he was expected to survive.

Man arrested after luring child into woods and raping him

SPRINGFIELD – A 30-year-old Chicopee man who pleaded guilty to downloading child pornography on a computer at the Holyoke Public Library in June was arrested by police here Friday night and charged with raping a child with force. Sgt. John M. Delaney said that Michael Houle, of 99 Rochester St., Chicopee, lured the boy into the woods during a house party in that city and sexually assaulted him there.

Retired school coach arrested for child rape

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A retired teacher and youth baseball coach from Chester County has been charged with child rape involving four children. William Rhoads, 70, of Phoenixville, Pa. was arrested on Sunday at his home.

The investigation began after authorities received a complaint on September 9th. The complaint alleged that Rhoads had sexually assaulted a four-year-old boy. As a result of the investigation, police say three additional victims were identified.

FORT GRATIOT, MI — With a suitcase in hand, Chuck Santoni stepped off the ladder of a fire truck Sunday and onto the roof of the Birchwood Mall.

Santoni, the morning show host at Q Country 107, won’t leave that roof until 6 p.m. Friday — part of a weeklong fundraiser for the St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council. “It’s not bad,” Santoni said of staying on the roof, where he has a tent and a sleeping bag. “It’s such a great cause, and that kind of overshadows everything else.” Santoni, who is participating in his sixth roof sit, said it is important to help raise money for the council to help protect children.

More priests to face child sex abuse charges

More Catholic priests face being charged with child abuse in the Republic following inquiries by a Garda team set up after the damning Ryan Report.

Up to 20 files are to be sent to the Irish Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) by a special squad of detectives investigating fresh complaints of sexual and physical assaults by clerics.

The files are expected to be completed in the coming days and will then be forwarded to the DPP to determine if criminal charges should be brought against any of the suspects.

Increase in Child Sex Abuse

D’IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) – With the recent arrest of a D’Iberville man on charges of sexually abusing three children between the age of 10 to 15, law enforcement officials remain concerned about the increasing frequency of this type of crime.

D’Iberville Police Department Captain Keith Davis told WLOX News, this is the seventh child abuse case his department has investigated in less than two years. For this small city, that’s seven too many.

“We have seen cases where the person responsible was a victim themselves of child abuse; we have seen cases where the individual claimed to have some type of sickness,” Davis said.
