MERIDIAN — Eight Lauderdale County deputies and investigators sat around a living room with walls that were lined with photos of young children, family portraits and school pictures. They were in this home because a man suspected of being a sexual predator was on his way there to meet a teenaged boy.

At about 8:50 p.m. Saturday, deputies arrested John Weatherford III, 29, of Meridian. On the ground next to Weatherford’s open car door and where he was sitting handcuffed was a paper bag containing a hamburger and a soft drink he had bought for the teenager. Three LCSD deputies stood over him, one armed with an assault rifle, while an investigator read him his rights.

PA Mom Pleads Guilty in Plot to Impregnate Girl

UNIONTOWN, Pa. – A western Pennsylvania woman accused of conspiring with her boyfriend to drug her 13-year-old daughter so he could try to impregnate her has pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors.

The 34-year-old Uniontown woman was slated for trial Monday in Fayette County Court of Common Pleas. But she pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and unauthorized administration of intoxicants.

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A Paulding County man was sentenced to life plus 20 years after being convicted on child molestation charges.

Officials said Tommy Lee Strozier, 53, was found guilty on Sept. 27 for rape, sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, two counts of aggravated child molestation and other charges involving a young girl.

A 46-year-old Selbyville man was charged with raping a teenage boy after giving him alcohol, state police said. Andrew F. Hill of the 36000 block of Mallard Drive was arrested after two people — a 33-year-old Selbyville man and a woman whose age is not known — went to visit him about 7 p.m. Sept. 23, said police Cpl. Jeffrey Hale.

A Carlisle-area man who pleaded guilty to raping four girls and a boy was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in state prison in Cumberland County Court on Tuesday. Christopher M. Macedo victimized the children from February 2000 to February 2006, up to when he was 16, according to court records. Macedo is now 21. ?

A man arrested in 2008 on child-sex charges by Palm Bay police will spend the rest of his life in prison, the police department said Friday. Timothy Raymond Anderson, 51, was convicted by a St. Lucie County jury this past week for sexual-battery charges. Judge Dan Vaughn sentenced him to 999 years, 99 months and 98 days in prison. “At least he won’t be able to victimize another child again,” Palm Bay police Detective Jasmine Campbell, who investigated the case, said in a prepared statement.

(Cleveland) – Police are holding a man suspected of raping a young girl. Officers arrested 33 year old Reginald Canfield. He’s charged with sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s 8 year old daughter. Investigators believe the attack occurred at the girl’s home on Storer Avenue Saturday morning. Detectives say the child told them Canfield had assaulted her several times over the past year.

Trio biking across U.S. to end child sex abuse

Last month, we were so inspired by three volunteers from Pedal for Prevention (www.pedalforprevention.com). These young men biked through Colorado and more importantly through Fort Collins. They are riding their bikes across the country from South Carolina to California to raise money to end child sexual abuse. They will ride 4,300 miles in approximately 85 days to raise awareness and funds that help support programs like the Stewards of Children adult training and Talking About Touching student training that the Larimer County Child Advocacy Center provides in our community.

Mom’s Boyfriend Charged for Child’s Sex Abuse Murder

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A woman’s boyfriend was charged with murder after her toddler died from apparent sexual abuse injuries, DeKalb County police said.

Ellison Matthew, 22, was initially arrested after police found the 2-year-old girl unresponsive at her home on Brockett Road in DeKalb County, DeKalb County police spokesman Jason Gagnon said. Matthew was charged on Sunday.

Several kids were under Matthew’s care, police said. They said their mother wasn’t home when her toddler became unconscious.

Cincinnati, Ohio – Police from seven jurisdictions had to be called out to a 3-year-old girl’s birthday party after her 26-year-old father got into an argument with her mother’s new boyfriend leading to a family feud amongst the 150 people in attendance. The fight escalated to the point that at least 75 guests were throwing chairs and beer bottles at each other. Once the dust had settled, fifteen people were injured with at least five hospitalized, one needing surgery for an eye injury caused by a beer bottle.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Two Connecticut men charged with killing a woman and her two daughters in a 2007 house invasion inflicted unimaginable terror on a model family that had enjoyed their final pleasant summer day together, prosecutors told a jury during closing arguments Friday.

Prosecutor Gary Nicholson said it was impossible to recreate the fear the two girls, 11-year-old Michaela and 17-year-old Hayley Petit, felt when the men tied them to their beds and poured gasoline on or around them before setting their Cheshire house on fire.

NEW YORK– A Staten Island couple is suing New York City after their deceased son’s friends found his brain on display while on a field trip to a morgue. Andre and Korisha Shipley’s 17 year old son Jesse was killed in a car crash in 2005, and was buried in a local cemetery. The Shipleys had no idea their son’s brain was removed until his friends and classmates from Port Richmond High School visited a morgue as part of a field trip for the school’s forensic science club.
