James Machin today became the third man to be convicted in the group. He was found guilty of ten sex offenses relating to girls under 13. The first two men were convicted of sex abuse charges in 2008, reports the BBC. Police said the abuse by the men, which was uncovered during a three-year investigation, was ‘horrific’. The police began inquiries in December 2007 after a victim’s parent raised concerns. Two of the victims were abused by all three men, the court reportedly heard.

Their vulnerable victims, one aged just 12, were picked up off the streets and taken to ‘parties’ where they were abused, sometimes by several men, one after the other. Two married fathers can be named today as the ringleaders after reporting restrictions on three trials during the year were lifted. Abid Mohammed Saddique, 27, of Normanton, Derby, was convicted of four counts of rape, two of false imprisonment, two of sexual assault, three charges of sexual activity with a child, perverting the course of justice and aiding and abetting rape. Mohammed Romaan Liaqat, 28, of Sinfin, Derby, was found guilty of one count of rape, two of sexual assault, aiding and abetting rape, affray and four counts of sexual activity with a child.

A toddler has been hospitalized with what appeared to be bleach burns to his face after a Wednesday incident now under investigation by Minneapolis police. Lt. Greg Reinhardt, who heads the department’s child abuse unit, said that the 20-month-old had been left with a relative in the 3400 block of Girard Avenue N., and that investigators will seek to determine whether the injuries were an accident or a result of criminal neglect.

Parents Arrested In Death of 5-Mth Old Infant

Eau Claire- Two teens have been charged in the death of their infant daughter, after authorities found the girl unconscious in an Eau Claire apartment Wednesday morning. 19-year-old Tyreece Triplett is facing charges of first degree reckless homicide and felony child abuse. The infant’s mother, 18-year-old Molly Campbell, has been charged with child neglect. According to the criminal complaint Campbell had left the infant with Triplett Tuesday night around 11 o’clock. Triplett said the baby began crying after Campbell left and he “freaked out”. Triplett admitted to officers that he shook the baby and threw her against a wall. He explained that the baby then fell into the crib, and that he shook the crib violently. When Campbell returned to the apartment, Triplett told her the baby had fallen off the couch.

Couple Guilty of Home Care Child Abuse

Anthony Jordan, 62, and his wife Morag were found guilty of eight counts of abusing children each. Judge Sir Christopher Pitchers delivered the verdict on Friday. Mr Jordon of Brechin Road, Kirriemuir, was found guilty of abusing children at the Haut de la Garenne children’s home on the island between 1981 and 1984. His wife Morag, originally from Dundee, was employed at the house between 1970 and 1984. She was also found guilty of eight counts of common assault during her work there, including shoving soap into their mouths and pushed the face of one into a puddle of urine. The charges relate to offences committed against 11 children aged between one and 17.

A Dakota County man could spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his 17-month-old stepson. A judge sentenced 24-year-old Tylar Hokanson Thursday after a jury found him guilty on two murder charges. Prosecutors say Hokanson shook his stepson at least 15 times at a rural Northfield home in June 2009, causing internal bleeding. Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom says 17-month-old Nicholas Miller was being squeezed so hard, a bone broke in his back.

Couple Arrested in Beating Death of 5-year-old Girl

RIVERSIDE, Calif. ( KTLA) — Authorities say a Moreno Valley father and his girlfriend have been charged in connection with the abuse-related death of the man’s 5-year-old daughter. Sheriff’s deputies were called to a hospital Tuesday to investigate the death of the child, who suffered a serious injury earlier in the day. The parents did not seek medical help, according to sheriff’s officials. It was not immediately known how the girl got to the hospital.

School Principal & 3 Staff Arrested for Child Abuse

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office says it arrested four faculty members at Floyd Elementary School accused of physically abusing students with mental and physical disabilities. Authorities say 53-year-old principal Holly Lepisto, 52-year-old teacher Sarah Hopkins, 73-year-old aide Phyllis DuShane and 56-year-old aide Kathryn Cummings were arrested Tuesday. They’re accused of five counts of child abuse and neglect and one count conspiracy to commit a crime.

Woman Guilty of Hitting Child in Face With Baseball Bat

AKRON, Ohio — A jury found an Akron mother guilty of felonious assault after being charged with smacking a teen girl in the face with a baseball bat. Back in April, two teen girls got into an argument. One of the teens went home and told her mother, 38-year-old Shondra Bufford, about the altercation. So Bufford, her two daughters and Bufford’s sister all jumped into a car and drove to the home of the other teenager. Once they arrived, they all piled out with Bufford swinging a baseball bat inquiring who wanted to fight her daughter.

Baby Dies After Drinking Meth Left in Sippy Cup

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ( KTLA) — Authorities in Florida have arrested a woman after a 2-year-old boy drank methadone from a sippy cup and died. Investigators say Masia Wright drank a lethal dose of methadone, which was allegedly left in the cup by the woman watching him. Dana Anderson, who is dating the child’s father, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter. Police say she admitted to leaving methadone in the sippy cup, which was on top of a dresser in her bedroom.

Female Band Teacher Convicted of Molesting Student

SANTA ANA, Calif. — A former high school band director from Orange has been convicted on four counts in connection with her sexual relationship with an underage student. According to prosecutors, 31-year-old Carlie Attebury was involved in an intimate relationship with a 15-year-old student. Attebury was found guilty Wednesday of one count of unlawful sexual intercourse, two counts of oral copulation of a minor under 16, and one count of sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor.

Starved 8-Yr Old Now Brain Dead

YANCEYVILLE, N.C.— Officials have charged two Caswell County parents with intentional child abuse after an 8-year-old girl was found severely malnourished. Willie and Dominique Lunsford, both of Milton, N.C., had their first court appearance Thursday on charges that they caused their daughter, Danielle, to be “grossly underweight.” The two were in jail for about a month, but are now out on bond, officials said. Caswell County district attorney Jim Long said Danielle was first transported to a hospital in Danville, Va. on Oct. 2, but was later taken to a hospital in Chapel Hill. Willie Lunsford told FOX8 Danielle is brain dead and is still in Chapel Hill.

Beatings Led To Toddler’s Death

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 2-year-old boy from Concord was subjected to several beatings, ultimately leading to his death Tuesday afternoon, authorities say. Police found little Josiah Taylor, unconscious and unresponsive in his 345 Mosel Ave. home at about 12:59 p.m. Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. An autopsy determined his death a homicide — the borough’s 15th of the year.

Woman Charged With Child Trafficking

An alleged madam regularly picked up a 16-year-old girl from her high school and drove her to a basement brothel to work until 8 or 9 p.m. a couple of days a week, authorities charged Wednesday. Rubicela Montero forced the underage girls and other victims into prostitution and threatened them or their families with death if they quit, authorities said. One girl called an anonymous hotline and tipped off Chicago police about the brothel in a Little Village basement apartment. Police set up a sting operation, sending in an undercover officer to pose as a client willing to pay for sex. Montero advertised in a Spanish-language newspaper, authorities said.
