CHARLOTTE, NC – A Norwood man accused of several sex assault charges involving a teen is being held in the Stanly County jail on a $2 million bond. According to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, the victim is a 15-year-old teen girl. The alleged incidents occurred between January 1, 2006 and April 30, 2011.

TriMet fired a long-time bus driver Friday who is accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl he met while on the job. The transportation agency said the termination of Christopher Alden Parker was due to an employee violation of too many unexcused absences.

A South Salt Lake woman was sentenced to prison for up to life on Friday for using a kitchen implement to fatally beat her 5-year-old daughter last year. Detectives arrested Maurer at his Lower Paxton Township home Thursday.

HOUSTON — Authorities have arrested a sex assault suspect accused of giving a teen HIV and STDs. Kelton Tyson was arrested at an apartment complex in the 9200 block of Pagewood in west Houston. Tyson is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child. He is accused of raping a 16-year-old boy several times between October 2009 and 2010 when they lived at the same apartment complex.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Seneca High School student was found dead Wednesday, and Louisville Metro Police are working to find out who is responsible.The body of 14-year-old Terrence “Trey” Zwicker was discovered in a ditch behind Liberty High School. Ten freshmen were outside the school for a class activity when they discovered the body. Police said detectives suspect foul play.

SAN DIEGO — A recent La Jolla High School graduate was shot and killed Wednesday night after being lured by robbers with a phony Craigslist ad, police said. Officers responding to a report of gunfire found the 18-year-old man slumped over the wheel of his vehicle in the 3000 block of Artemia Way about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police.

UNION COUNTY, Fla. — The parents of two young girls were arrested after they forced their daughters to live in a tent deep in the woods while they lived in an air-conditioned home, according to Union County deputies.Deputies said the girls, ages 3 and 4, were found wandering alone in the woods near the tent on Monday afternoon.

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — A Lake Elsinore woman has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted of torture and child abuse for holding her 2-year-old daughter’s legs under scalding water as punishment. Diana Vicky Estrada, 24, claimed the burns on her daughter’s legs were an accident, but prosecutors alleged the injuries were the result of a potty-training outburst.
