SANFORD — A jury Wednesday night convicted an Altamonte Springs man of neglecting two children he adopted while his wife withheld food from them and spanked them so hard and so often that she left them with scars. Dwayne Hardy, 50, faces a minimum of two years in prison. He is to be sentenced Aug. 1. The prime abuser, according to the children who testified Tuesday, was his wife, Pamela Hardy, 47. She is charged with a more serious crime: aggravated child abuse. She is to be tried later.

ST. CLOUD – A 30-year-old St. Cloud woman pled guilty today (Thursday) to abusing two of her children. Maimuna Mohamud pled guilty in Stearns County Court to the felony charges of Malicious Punishment Of a Child. Last September a police officer found her then two-year-old twins tied-up at the wrists and ankles.

A father and mother accused of making internet pornography involving their young son and daughter will reappear in Gosford Local Court next month. The two children, aged 11 and 12, and two younger siblings are in the care of the Community Services Department. The father, 50, of Erina, is charged with 40 offences, including using a child under 14 years to make child-abuse material and procuring a child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity. The mother, 30, is charged with 16 offences, including aggravated sexual intercourse with a person aged more than 10 years.

Greensburg, Ind.—There is new, disturbing information that has been released in the deadly child abuse case in Greensburg, Indiana. Investigators have released search warrants from the home where 12-year-old Devin Parsons was beaten to death on June 3rd, 2011. The warrants detailed the gruesome scene police came upon when they received the 911 call.

SANTA ANA, CA — A Placentia man is accused of beating, stabbing and torturing a 5-year-old boy who was being cared for by his girlfriend. Carmen William Iacullo II, 33, is charged with felony torture, child abuse and corporal injury on a child, plus sentencing enhancements for causing serious injury. His girlfriend, Lori Louisa Pincus, 39, also of Placentia, is also charged with child abuse and accessory after the fact for allegedly allowing the torture to take place and failing to seek medical treatment for the boy.

ALBANY, N.Y.— New York lawmakers have voted to add directors of children’s overnight or summer day camps to the list of those required to report suspected child abuse or maltreatment to the state and to local social services officials. Sponsors say under current regulations camp directors are required to report incidents at their camps, but they can face civil liability for contacting authorities on behalf of a child concerning abuse or maltreatment elsewhere.

ST. PETERSBURG — A 37-year-old mother was arrested Wednesday night in downtown St. Petersburg after a series of events that police say started out with her drinking with three children in tow – and ended with her offering to have sex in a public park with two men. Christine Marie King, of 9230 Fifth St. N. – who also goes by Christine Corbitt – was charged with drunken driving, disorderly conduct, three counts of child abuse and battery on a law enforcement officer, according to Pinellas County Jail records.

A father allegedly killed his baby daughter with a cinder block just hours after she was born – because he and the little girl’s mother couldn’t afford to have another child. Christopher Fitzpatrick, 20, allegedly told his girlfriend, Jennifer Barrise, ‘I just want to get rid of it’ as she started having contractions while they were out shopping near their home in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania. Both have now been charged with criminal homicide after police found their daughter’s tiny body buried in woodland near Fitzpatrick’s workplace.

Bradley admits he committed, a state trooper testified last week that the doctor had to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on victims who appeared to stop breathing and turned “ashen gray.” The disclosure that some girls appeared to lose consciousness, both choking and suffocating, when he forced oral sex on them led two women to storm out of the hushed courtroom. His average victim was about 3 years old, a trooper said.

BELLS, TN — A Bells woman has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated rape of a child, amid accusations that she caused injuries that led to the death of her boyfriend’s 17-month-old daughter over the weekend.The child, Maleeya Marie Murley, was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville on Tuesday and was pronounced dead Saturday night, Bells Police Chief Ilandis Smith said Monday.

SANFORD – A 10-year-old boy today told jurors that the Altamonte Springs couple that adopted him spanked him bare bottomed until he bled then would spank him again before those wounds healed, leaving scars. Dwayne and Pamela Hardy also punished the boy time and again by not giving him meals, the child said. By the time child welfare investigators got involved, the boy and his younger sister, also adopted, were gaunt, had permanent scars on their bottoms and had hands that were swollen and marked from blows from a wooden spoon, according to testimony.

State Senate panel approves bill setting tougher rules on investigating child abuse in New Jersey In the aftermath of the death of Christiana Glenn, a 8-year-old Irvington girl who died of starvation and complications from a broken leg, a state Senate committee on Monday approved legislation that would require state child abuse investigators to track cases more closely and report more statistics.
