SYCAMORE, Ill. — A Seattle man charged with sexually assaulting an Illinois teenager 50 years ago decided Monday to have his case decided by a judge instead of a jury. Jack McCullough, 72, made the request as jury selection was to begin in his trial on charges of rape and indecent liberties with a child in the alleged abuse of a 14-year-old Sycamore, Ill., girl in the early 1960s.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA — Investigators are trying to identify hundreds of potential victims whose images were found on the computer of an Indiana man charged with coercing two teenage boys into recording sexually explicit videos by threatening to post clips of their previous online indiscretions on gay porn websites.

MONTREAL, CANADA – America’s Most Wanted child molester, who has been on the run for 10 years, was arrested in Montreal Tuesday when U.S. Marshal’s found that he bought a plane ticket back to Canada. Steven Dyer was arrested by the Canada Border Services Agency as he got off his plane from Venezuela, Deputy U.S. Marshal Frank Newsom said. Dyer was convicted on 13 counts of sexual conduct with a minor in Scottsdale, Ariz. in 2002, Newsom said. In January 2002, Dyer failed to appear to a court appearance and an arrest warrant was issued. In April 2002, a jury convicted Dyer in absentia on all counts, and he now faces up to 169 years in prison, pending his sentencing, Newsom said.

A 1-year-old believed to have been severely beaten in a home near DeLand is showing signs of improvement and is off life support, friends and family said Friday. Now, fundraisers to help pay medical bills and care for Isaiah Mitchell are being organized, said family friend Peggy Hayman. “Every day he seems to be getting better. It’s amazing,” Hayman said. As part of his recovery, doctors have said Isaiah will have to wear a special helmet to protect his skull, part of which was removed to drain fluids from his brain, Hayman said.

A successful businesswoman has told of her agony after being forced into an abusive marriage at the age of five – despite living in Britain. Samina Shah, who is now in her 40s and too frightened to reveal her real name, spoke out after revelations that Britain’s Forced Marriage Unit had handled the case of another five-year-old girl last year.

After my speech someone in the audience called a local state senator and asked to see if he could schedule time in the morning to meet me. Sure enough he did. The next morning I was meeting with Senator John Edwards of Virginia to discuss Erin’s law. He was very positive about it all and I think it is looking promising that Virginia might just be the next state to add to this list. Right before I got on my plane Thursday to fly to Virginia I got a response back from a Georgia Senator who is going to introduce Erin’s Law next session.

MANAURE, Colombia — A 10-year-old girl in Colombia has given birth to a healthy, 5-pound baby girl. The girl is a member of the Wayuu people, an indigenous tribe in northern Colombia. The government allows tribe members to carry out certain cultural practices.

Washington – The U.S. Marshals Service has announced the addition of Edward Salas to its 15 Most Wanted fugitive list. A convicted child killer, Salas escaped from the Curry County Detention Center in Clovis, New Mexico, on August 28, 2008, and has been on the lam ever since. At the time of his escape, he was serving a life sentence plus 56 years for his role in the murder of 10-year-old Carlos Perez.

South Sulawesi Police are hunting down DN, a resident of Makassar, for allegedly having impregnated two of his stepdaughters. DN’s crime was revealed after the eldest daughter, IL, 16, gave birth, leaving her sister, NH, 14, who was by then seven months’ pregnant with her stepfather’s child. DN was also reportedly about to rape the youngest daughter, HF, 13, metrotvnews.com reported.

Terry Jackson, 54, whose address is listed in court documents as 36 Montello St. Extension, Apt. 1, was indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury last week on 299 charges. They include 271 counts of aggravated rape of a child with force, 12 counts of posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, witness intimidation and other sex offenses. He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in Brockton Superior Court.

JUNEAU, Alaska — A judge has dismissed child sex abuse charges against a Juneau man, ruling that a grand jury considered inadmissible evidence when it handed down a 100-count indictment. But Juneau Superior Court Judge Philip Pallenberg indivates there may still be enough admissible evidence to support an indictment of 37-year-old David Burger if the document is restructured.

ORLANDO, FL — Former champion boxer Hector “Macho” Camacho is facing a felony count of child abuse and turned himself in to Florida authorities this week on a warrant filed late last year. The 49-year-old Camacho posted a $5,000 bond at the Orange County Jail in Orlando on Monday and was released. According to the arrest affidavit, Camacho surrendered on a warrant that records show was filed by the state attorney’s office in November.

A father has confessed to killed his newborn baby boy because the three-week-old’s crying was disturbing him as he played on a games console, police said. Jacob David Hartley, of Lakeland, Florida, had baby Colton sitting on him for around 30 minutes out of an almost five hour video game session on Thursday.

Vanessa Williams is opening up about the sexual abuse she suffered as a young girl.
