NATIONAL CITY, CA — Police were investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a man and his two children at a National City motel Tuesday. Officers went to the Paradise Motel at 1470 National City Blvd. at about 10 a.m. to perform a welfare check on the occupants of one of the rooms, Sgt. Julian Villagomez said. When no one responded to their knocks, the officers forced open the door and found the bodies of 39-year-old Murrillo Jamies-Soto, his 16-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter in the room, he said.

An eight-month-old baby is recovering in the hospital, after her grandmother chopped both of her hands off, while her grandmother was watching her. Ten minutes after the child’s mother returned home, a neighbor saw her running out of the house with her daughter covered in blood.

Galina Ryabkova, 30, from Moscow, Russia, threw her two young sons, 4, and 7, off a 15th-floor balcony to their death on Sunday because she was “fed up” with them. According to NY Daily News, Ryabkova was seen on the surveillance video shortly after the incident, appearing emotionless after she looked at the remains for her children.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The mother of a 4-year-old boy reported missing from a mid-Michigan Indian reservation said Monday she is holding out hope that he’ll be found safe as additional searches were planned. Jaimee Chamberlain, 21, told The Associated Press on Monday that her son, Carnel Chamberlain, was being cared for by her boyfriend at her home near Mount Pleasant when the child disappeared Thursday.

During a three-day law enforcement sweep targeting the problem of teenage prostitution, officers rescued 79 children and arrested 104 alleged pimps, the FBI announced Monday.Operation Cross Country 6 took place from Friday though Sunday with more than 2,500 state, local and federal officers working in 57 cities.FBI Acting Executive Assistant Director Kevin Perkins said the children law enforcement freed from their handlers ranged in age from 13 to 17 years old with one girl saying she had gotten involved in prostitution when she was 11 years old.

A pediatrician has admitted possessing hundreds of thousands of images and videos of child pornography. Todd Parrilla, 48, had a practice in Pawcatuck in south-eastern Connecticut at the time of the arrest in August last year. He pleaded guilty to the receipt and distribution of child pornography. The disturbing pictures and film included images of boys under the age of 12 engaging in sexually-explicit conduct, reports Associated Press. Some of the material portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence, said prosecutors.

An FBI special agent who tracked down a paedophile and brought him to justice has spoken out about how cooperation from the victim’s family and dedication helped solve the horrific crime. Antonio Cardenas, 33, was last week sentenced to 35 years in prison, and will be on supervised probation for the rest of his life, for repeatedly molesting a Utah boy, now 15, and filming the appalling acts. The sexual abuse began when the boy, who suffers from a learning disability, was encouraged to enroll in a mentoring program in 2004, after he was teased by his classmates. But Cardenas, who was appointed the seven-year-old’s mentor, instead molested and raped him. He continued to do so until 2009, which is when he fled to Mexico after images of him abusing the boy began circulating online.

CHULA VISTA, CA — A Chula Vista elementary school tutor and volunteer youth football coach accused of repeatedly molesting a young relative pleaded not guilty Monday to five felony charges of sexual abuse against a minor. Carlos Ojeda, 20, was ordered held on $800,000 bail and told to have no contact with the alleged victim. He faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted, said Deputy District Attorney Ted Minahan.

SAN DIEGO – The fate of a mother and son who disappeared two months ago in La Jolla remains a mystery, police said. Tammy Rief, 43, and her 4-year old son Jonah were last seen along Prospect Drive at the La Jolla Recreation Center on April 28. They vanished without a trace. It’s not known where the two could have gone, but now their family and friends are working hard to find them by posting flyers and asking for the public’s help.

FONTANA, CA — A teacher at Fontana’s AB Miller High School was arrested Saturday and accused of instructing summer-school students to haze others, and the charges one of the offending students is facing suggest the hazing may have been sexual in nature. Fontana police officials on Sunday issued a news release, announcing arrests made in connection with the hazing of a student but only referred to the incidents as assaults. On Monday, officials said at least three students have been identified as victims.
