HANFORD — Jurors found a Hanford man guilty on Friday of continuously sexually abusing his stepdaughter since she was 7 years old. Alfredo Provencio, 43, now faces a likely 50 years-to-life sentence when he returns to court on Aug. 17. The decision came at the end of a seven-day trial prosecuted by the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.

DECATUR, Alabama — A Decatur woman was arrested Friday night for allegedly abusing her four-month-old child. Latonia Renea Stinnett, 22, of 4353 Old Moulton Road, is charged with one count of felony child abuse. She is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

SANTIAGO, Chile — Chile will investigate 61 schools in the country’s capital for possible child sex abuse, the attorney general said Friday in the latest government step to address a sharp rise in reports of such crimes. Attorney general Sabas Chahuan said his office will look at 49 schools in eastern Santiago and 12 on city’s west side. Several teachers have recently been accused of sexually molesting children at schools in affluent neighborhoods in the eastern portion of Santiago.

Skin red raw and peeling, two-year-old Adelle Tung was crying with pain when she was admitted to Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in May last year. There were angry burns stretching from her lower back down to the backs of her knees. She had to be given morphine to ease her distress. Concerned doctors questioned Adelle’s mother, 25-year-old Natalie, to try to ascertain what might have caused her injuries — which looked to them like scalds from hot liquid. But Natalie could offer no explanation other than that Adelle’s wet nappy had split during the night, four days earlier, and had covered the sleeping toddler with crystals contained within the absorbent padding. This was dismissed by one medic, who, it is claimed, snapped: ‘If nappies were that dangerous, they wouldn’t sell them.’

Michael E. Tringelof, 43, of Cincinnati, Ohio, is being charged for the kidnapping and torture of children between ages 5-10, which occurred between 1998 and 2002. According to UPI.com, the victims of these crimes have come forward since Tringelof was indicted in 2005 for a kidnapping charge involving a 9-year-old boy.

A mother has been sentenced to life in prison with an additional 25 years on top after she was found guilty of the death of her six-year-old stepdaughter and the abuse of her stepson. In September 2009, Jennifer Jimenez, 29, from Shawnee, Oklahoma, held Alexis Morris upside down by her ankles and slammed her head against the ground as she was crying and screaming.

An ex-hospital worker who fled the US seven years ago after allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl and attempting to lure her friends into his car for a sick sexual game was finally in custody last night. Former hospital worker, Peter Belegrinos, 30, from Astoria, New York, was charged in 2005 with attempted kidnapping, sexual abuse, assault and endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly groped and punched a 9-year-old girl inside Astoria Park, according to The New York Post. But the man was released on $50,000 bail and immediately bolted.

A couple have been charged for beating the woman’s 15-year-old son with a skillet, punching him in the head and binding with duct tape as punishment, according to Cincinnati Police. Summer Wallzs has been charged with felonious assault and unlawful restraint in the alleged attack at her Riverside, Ohio, home on July 11, according to Hamilton County Municipal Court records. The 34-year-old is suspected of striking her son with the skillet and binding him with tape, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Police announced the arrests Thursday of five teenagers in the case of a girl, 12, who was raped this week at a Southwest Philadelphia recreation center. Investigators had said four teens had been arrested as of Thursday afternoon. Hours later, police confirmed that a fifth boy was in custody. Police said an aunt had brought him to the Special Victims Unit. The suspects, whose names were not released because of their ages, are 14 and 15, police said. They are charged with rape, simple assault, and other offenses.

First, Kilah Davenport’s doctors said she wouldn’t live. Then they said she would remain in a vegetative state, according to her family. But 3-year-old Kilah, who in May was beaten almost to death, left Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte Thursday in a pink tutu. An escort of motorcycles, firetrucks and police cars led her and her family to her grandmother’s home in Concord.

More than a decade after he allegedly raped and impregnated a 15-year-old girl at a Southwest Side temple, a Buddhist monk was charged with the crime. Camnong Boa-Ubol, 62, appeared in Cook County Circuit Court in Bridgeview Friday morning where he was ordered held on $5 million bail by Judge Peter Felice.

GARDEN GROVE– Police in Orange County have arrested a bible teacher on charges of molestation. Christopher Guardado was taken into custody after two girls, under the age of 14, contacted police and said he molested them repeatedly over the course of two years. Detectives say the alleged acts happened at his Garden Grove home.

Rhonda Eisenberg, a Spanish teacher at North Ridge High School in Greeley, Colorado has admitted to an illicit affair with her 17-year old student from Mexico, with whom she now has a child. According to Greeley Tribune, the 44-year-old has confessed to as many as 30 sexual encounters with the minor while he was under her legal guardianship in 2010.
