20 year old, Myriah Moreland of Montesano, Washington sent pornographic pictures of her six-month-old son to Christopher Dupea of Spanaway, Washington through use of the social networking site, Skout. According to the New York Daily News, Skout’s monitors immediately notified The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children once they came across the exploitative material.

COLUSA – A 14-year-old boy was found shot to death on a Colusa street Thursday night. Friends and family are overwhelmed with grief after the teen was gunned down on a residential street in the small town. Family has identified him as 14-year-old Miguel Muniz. “Whoever did this, I swear you’re going to pay for this,” his sister Alma Gallardo said on Friday. “He never caused any problems to anybody. “He was 14, he was 14. He was still a kid.”

Former Playboy Playmate turned DJ, Colleen Shannon was arrested Thursday night afterallegedly trying to smuggle an unidentified man into the United States through the Canadian border. The 34-year-old blonde bombshell was arrested by Customs and Border Protection and was taken into custody at Clinton County Jail in Upstate New York. She was booked for violating a statue prohibiting “bringing in and harboring aliens.”

Jesse Pomeroy was fourteen when he was arrested in 1874 for the sadistic murder of a four-year-old boy. He was quickly dubbed “The Boston Boy Fiend.” His rampage had begun three years earlier with the sexual torture of seven other boys. For those crimes Pomeroy was sentenced to reform school, but then he was released early. Not long afterward he mutilated and killed a 10-year-old girl who came into his mother’s store. A month later, he snatched four-year-old Horace Mullen. He took Horace to a swamp outside town and slashed him so savagely with a knife that he nearly decapitated the child. Because of his strange appearance he had a milky white eye—and his previous behavior, suspicion turned to him. When he was shown the body and asked if he’d done it, he responded with a nonchalant, “I suppose I did.” Then the girl was found buried in his mother’s cellar and he confessed to that murder, too. He was convicted and sentenced to death, although a public outcry against condemning a child to hang commuted the sentence to four decades of solitary confinement.

MARION – A local woman charged with two counts of rape has pleaded guilty to both counts. Laura Owens, 26, of Marion, may be one of the first women to be charged with and convicted of rape in Marion County. An initial search of court records by clerk Julie Kagel did not produce any other cases.

A teen who police say molested a 3-year-old boy over the weekend because he was bored appeared Monday in Columbus Recorder’s Court. Martinez Deontae Williams, 18, is charged with child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes, police said. Accused of inappropriately touching the child as the toddler sat on his lap, Williams pleaded not guilty Monday to both charges.

MALONE — Michael J. Scaringe was “a wolf within the lambs,” using his job as director of the Saranac Lake Youth Center to prey upon a 13-year-old girl, a judge said Friday. Scaringe, 64, of Old Colby Road, Saranac Lake was sentenced in Franklin County Court by St. Lawrence County Supreme Court Judge Kathleen Rogers to seven years in state prison after being convicted of second-degree rape for the Dec. 23, 2009, incident.

In Casto Marim, Portugal, a depressed mother, Luciana Garcia, killed herself and her two children, Leticia and Leonardo, by locking them together in a room and setting the furniture ablaze. According to Information Nigeria, the husband, Leonardo Gioso, had left for works two hours before the tragic event to complete tasks at a dental clinic he ran with his wife of fifteen years.

Six times, there was a sharp knock on the jury room door. After each knock, the bailiff took a piece of yellow lined notepaper and carried it to the judge. Each time, the note included a request. Once, the 12 jurors asked for air conditioning in the jury room. Another time they asked for an investigator’s notes summarizing the interview he had done with Tracy Leegaynor Miller in August of 2010.

Contrary to the wild imaginings of Rep. Todd Akin’s fevered brain, women can and do get pregnant as a result of rape, a reality that’s horrible enough to think about even without this extra bitter layer: some rapists successfully sue for joint custody of the children they have violently fathered. Though instances of rapists seeking or even obtaining joint custody are apparently pretty rare, only 19 states have laws restricting the parental rights of men who father children through rape — everywhere else, men are technically allowed to seek such rights, and even if they don’t intend on actually being part of their child’s life, rapists have been known use the threat of joint custody as a way to blackmail their victims into not filing criminal charges. Now would be a great time to pause for a few minutes and let the rage bile boil up through your esophagus like an agitated hot spring.

A 30-year-old man was sentenced to 24 years in prison Friday after being convicted on charges that he raped a 5-year-old girl while he was living with her family in North Aurora in the summer of 2000. Adrian Ramirez-Alcantar, now of Warrenville, was convicted of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse after a two-day trial in May.

Although GOP leaders have condemned Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin’s claim that “legitimate rape” rarely causes pregnancy, the party this week adopted anti-abortion platform language that does not include an exception for rape. If a mother decides to carry a child conceived in rape to term, should she tell him or her about the rape? ….. Probably. Researchers estimate that approximately 12,000 children are born as the result of rape every year, and the majority of them are raised by birth mothers.
