A man released from prison six months ago was arrested Monday in the killing of a woman he knew and her two young children. Officers found the bodies of 23-year-old Heather Jackson and her 3-year-old daughter and 18-month-old son Saturday night at their home in Sandusky, a city in northern Ohio that sits along Lake Erie midway between Toledo and Cleveland. A family friend had told police they had not been heard from all day.

A Vancouver man has been sentenced to about eight and a half years in prison for sexually abusing an infant boy and displaying the sex abuse over the Internet. Anthony G. Fontana, 23, pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree rape of a child. He was sentenced to 104 months in prison. After completing the prison term, Fontana will be under community supervision and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. The investigation into the sex abuse began in August 2011 following an anonymous tip to Child Protective Services. Fontana knew the boy, who was under 1 year old at the time, because the baby was a child of a former acquaintance, said Vancouver police Sgt. John Chapman.

East Moline Police have arrested a man and a woman on charges of predatory sexual assault. 30-year-old Randi Hayes-Manske and 31-year-old Shawn Block from Moline are charged with two counts of predatory assault of a minor. Police say the child in this case is 6-years-old.

As Harold Thomas Shytle carefully shuffled to the table on the left side of the courtroom, the family sitting on the front bench embraced one another. One woman clasped her hands tightly together, as if in prayer, while tears leaked from the corners of her eyes. Another woman held her hand over her mouth. Shytle was arrested in June and charged with indecent liberties and first-degree sex offense with a child after a 7-year-old girl told her mother Shytle sexually abused her, according to court testimony. The mother said the girl was abused on her seventh birthday.

A Somerville District Court judge this morning set bail at $10,000 for an Episcopal priest after the priest’s arraignment on charges of sexually assaulting a child. The Rev. Paul A. LaCharite, 65, of Boston faces one count of assault with intent to rape a child and three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child. The crimes allegedly occurred over a 10-year period at the St. James Episcopal Church in Somerville, where LaCharite was assigned from 1989 to 2005, prosecutors said.

Matthew George Nielsen, a former assistant prosecutor with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, was arrested over the weekend on eight felony charges relating to domestic violence, child abuse and witness tampering. The arrest was the second for Nielsen in less than a month. Police say Nielsen assaulted a woman in the presence of his two children, both minors. Nielsen then allegedly assaulted the children and threatened to kill them if they called police.

TULSA, Oklahoma -A Tulsa man and his wife were arrested Friday, charged with several counts of child abuse and permitting child abuse, respectively. Matthew Charles Oeth, 26, was charged with three counts of child abuse by injury. Tulsa County District Court documents show one count each of alleged abuse of three different children, ages 3, 4, and 6.

Case Facts: John Dupire is serving a 10-year to 25-year sentence for the offenses of rape and gross sexual imposition (four counts). On February 7, 1994 a 36-year-old man entered a restaurant and saw John Dupire with a little boy. The man immediately recognized Dupire as the schoolteacher who raped him in a motel during a trip in 1969. The man then went to police and advised them Dupire had molested him. The victim stated he went to authorities because “I just saw that little boy. That could have been me.”

A Muslim cleric at the center of an illegal marriage scandal has stepped down after he allegedly offered to marry a 12-year-old girl to a man in his 20s. Imam Mohamed Kassamali is said to have told an undercover reporter posing as a father that he could carry out a ceremony for his school-aged daughter. He allegedly told the Sunday Times journalist: ‘If it (the marriage) was not possible, I would have told you straight away… I would love the girl to go to her husband’s houses (sic) as soon as possible, the younger the better.

A man facing charges of raping a teenage girl two years ago murdered the 16-year-old last week so that she could not testify against him in his upcoming sexual assault trial, said police. Franklin Davis, 30, of Irving, Texas, confessed to shooting dead Shania Gray after he was arrested on unrelated driving offenses on Friday and police began questioning him about the girl’s death.

A mother and father have been jailed for allegedly shackling their teenage son to a chair every night for six months. Virginia Smith, 63, and her husband Douglas Smith allegedly handcuffed the 17-year-old and used padlocked chains to pin him to a chair. He was chained in the living room of the family home in Twentynine Palms, California overnight and only released the next day, investigators said.

A school worker has been jailed for 10 years for abusing two young girls and downloading more than 12,000 vile pornographic images after being shopped to police by his horrified wife. IT assistant Frederick Brookes, 62, plied his innocent victims – both under the age of 10 – with sweets and biscuits before indulging his sick fantasies. Brookes helped teach hundreds of children at a school in the New Forest, Hants. He even groomed a third girl to help him take video footage of one of the distressed victims, who was tied up and naked.

World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September promotes worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides. On average, almost 3000 people commit suicide daily. For every person who completes a suicide, 20 or more may attempt to end their lives. There’s a warrant for the arrest of Edward Underwood, Jr., 61, for allegedly raping a juvenile family member. Investigators say Underwood is 5’8″ and 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He may be driving a blue Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck with a white camper top.
