CLAYTON, NJ — Two teenage brothers were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Autumn Pasquale, the 12-year-old-girl found dead Monday in Clayton, New Jersey, according to authorities. “The brothers are ages 15 and 17 years old, and both are in police custody at the present time,” Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton said Tuesday, adding that the younger brother had also been charged with one count of luring.

Dustin Alton Kent, of Alabama, has been accused of raping his then 13-year-old niece, while her father looked on. Police allege that in the 2008 incident, the young girl was taken by her father, under the guise of a trip to the pet store, to a dark back road where he allowed his brother to kiss and rape her. The girl, now 17, finally came forward with her story after her father committed suicide.

OKLAHOMA CITY – A registered sex offender from Texas was caught in Oklahoma City trying to meet an 8-year-old girl for sex. Police say 34-year-old Scott Froedge of Arlington, Texas, arranged the meeting through social media. He was arrested Friday near 50th and Northwest Expressway. Investigators have confiscated Froedge’s phone and his vehicle as evidence. He was taken to the Oklahoma County Jail.

Delos J. Holmes, 36, of Plymouth, was charged Friday with first-degree criminal sexual act and second-degree rape, both felonies, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, troopers said. He was arraigned in Guilford town court and ordered held at the Chenango County Jail on $75,000 bail.

(Memphis) – A Memphis mother is charged with four counts of Aggravated Child Abuse after police say she went too far when she disciplined her children. Officers say 34-year-old Lawanda Wilson crossed the line when she used a belt and extension cord, but her neighbors say what she’s accused of doing before that is even more disturbing. Duct tape, a belt, and an extension cord are all items allegedly used as weapons by Wilson who claims to police she was trying to discipline her children. Police are calling it abuse because the kids were bound and beaten.

HUDSON, Mich. — An Ypsilanti, Mich., man has been charged with first-degree child abuse stemming from injuries to a 1-year-old Hudson boy, who later died at Toledo Children’s Hospital. The child, LeRoy Beals, was seriously injured about 8:45 p.m. Monday at his Division Street home where his mother’s boyfriend, Timothy Martin, 25, was babysitting. Hudson police said Mr. Martin was arrested Wednesday, and the toddler died that evening.

Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel toured the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County (CAC) Saturday afternoon taking a close look at the names on the walls the children posted on stars. “Every star on that wall, every child who has ever been through this place is important and we have to make sure that here and all over Arkansas we continue to serve,” McDaniel said.

Ron Morgan and Kerry Lewis grew up in adjoining states — one in Idaho, the other in Oregon. Both belonged to Boy Scout troops during the 1980s, and decades later, both alleged in lawsuits that the Scouts failed to protect them and other boys against known molesters, citing detailed evidence from the organization’s confidential files. In 2010, Lewis won a jury verdict of nearly $20 million against the Scouts, the largest such award in the organization’s history. Morgan’s case was never considered on its merits. The Idaho Supreme Court ruled in 2009 that, under state law, it was filed too late. “Our state … turned us away,” Morgan said. “His didn’t.”

As he confessed to police, Ali-Mohamed Mohamud seemed as “calm as could be” admitting he killed his 10-year-old stepson, Abdifatah, said Detective Sgt. James Lonergan in court Tuesday. “He was very calm, well spoken, and responsive to questions,” Lonergan said of Mohamud’s demeanor during police questioning. Abdi, as he was called by family and friends, had already climbed out of a window and run away from home, only to be caught by Mohamud with the help of a neighbor. Now the boy was trying to run away again, Mohamud said in his police statement.

A pedophile who abused up to 3,500 boys over a 35-year period has died in prison. William Goad, 68, from Plymouth, Devon, who was jailed for life in 2004, died of natural causes at HMP Albany on the Isle of Wight, according to the Prison Service. The wealthy businessman is thought to have been Britain’s most prolific child abuser, with his sick assaults causing two of his victims to commit suicide. Goad was previously described in court as a ‘voracious, calculating, predatory and violent homosexual pedophile’ who boasted of beating his own ‘record’ of abusing 142 boys in a year.

London — Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousufzai stood for the first time after her shooting Friday morning and is “communicating very freely,” according to the director of the UK hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Malala can’t talk because she has a tracheotomy tube inserted to protect her airway, which was swollen after her gunshot injury, but she is writing coherent sentences, said Dave Rosser, director of University Hospitals Birmingham. “We have no reason to believe she won’t be able to talk when the tube is out, which may be in the next few days,” he said.

With the toll from the fungal meningitis outbreak up to 21 dead and 247 sickened, and as the compounding facility responsible for fungus-tainted drugs is hit with a lawsuit, researchers have looked back at the first case that alerted them to the disease. Their results were published online Friday in the New England Journal of Medicine. The epidural steroid injections were produced at the New England Compounding Center, which shut down production and recalled all its products Oct. 6. About 14,000 patients are believed to have received injections.
