A Baltimore grandmother has been accused of poisoning her 17-month-old grandson to death with Methadone. Towanda Reaves, 50, has been charged with murder and child abuse after admitting to police that she rubbed the powerful drug on the gums of two of her grandchildren so they would go to sleep during a July 4 visit. The other grandchild, a girl born three months after the deceased boy, survived the dose. Normally given to heroin addicts to help them overcome their addictions, Methadone can also be used as a painkiller.

HELENA, Montana – The body of a 3-year-old Lacey boy was found in southwestern Montana and his father has been arrested after a convenience store clerk spotted him washing blood off his clothes, authorities said. Jeremy Brent Cramer, 38, of Lacey was charged Tuesday with deliberate homicide and ordered held on $250,000 during his first court appearance in Montana.

“My baby was helpless. He was 5. The way he went out, that hurts me the most,” said the grieving father. Police have arrested India Latrice Kimble, 28, and her boyfriend, Vonta Montrell McClellan, 26, of Anniston, Alabama for beating to death Kimble’s son, 5-year old Gregory Caver, with a belt for having wet his bed.

A 46-year-old woman has been sentenced to 16 months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two boys who played on her son’s hockey team. Kathia Maria Davis, from Laguna Niguel, will also have to register as a lifetime sex offender, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said. The court was told that Davis had sex with a 16-year-old boy on four occasions between July 2010 and 2011, and engaged in sex acts with a 14-year-old during a slumber party.

The Department of Education spokesperson stated that the man’s actions were “completely reprehensible.” 31-year old Malik Taylor, former dean of the Business of Sports School in Manhattan, sexually harassed four students and had unprotected sex with four of his students in his classrooms, in motels throughout New York City, and in his car.

FLINT, MI — A Mt. Morris Township grandmother made her first court appearance on an open murder charge more than 14 years after her granddaughter was first reported missing. Lois Janish was ordered held without bond during her arraignment Thursday, Aug. 1, in front of Flint District Judge Nathaniel Perry III. Janish is charged with open murder in the death of Coral Hall.

Cleveland (CNN) — When her chance came, kidnapping victim Michelle Knight lit into Ariel Castro, the man who held her captive and raped her in his Cleveland home for a decade. “You took 11 years of my life away,” she said. “I spent 11 years in hell. Now, your hell is just beginning.” In handing down a sentence of life without parole plus 1,000 years in prison, Judge Michael Russo told the kidnapper there was no place in the world for his brand of criminal. “You don’t deserve to be out in our community,” Russo told the defendant. “You’re too dangerous.”

SHELBY — A 17-year-old girl told police she was the one who gave birth to an infant whose remains were found in the trunk of a car Tuesday afternoon by an auto repairman on the city’s north side. Shelby police Chief Charlie Roub said a mechanic at a Shelby repair shop found the remains of an infant in the trunk of a car shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday. Roub said in an interview Tuesday night with police Capt. Lance Combs, the girl told investigators she didn’t know she was pregnant and had the child at home in late January or early February. The body was inside a copy paper box in the trunk of a white car at Broadway Automotive and Exhaust, 211 N. Gamble St.

The bus driver who caused an accident that sent seven people to the hospital already had two outstanding warrants for driving violations. Idowu Daramola, 48, was on his cellphone while driving a bus in West N.Y. New Jersey, when he lost control of his bus which hit a lamppost that fell on the stroller of 8-month old Angela Paredes, killing the girl. The bus driver then hit another lamppost and smashed into a car which was crushed. According to PIX 11, the baby was pronounced dead in the ambulance on the way to the hospital; her mother was taken to the hospital in shock and five other people were injured in the accident.

MONONA, Iowa – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a Monona man wanted on drug and child endangerment charges. In a press release Tuesday, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said they’re looking for Troy Laufenberg, wanted on four charges: child endangerment, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The DCI said charges stem from an incident that happened July 15 at Laufenberg’s apartment on East Center Street in Monona. Local police couldn’t give specific details, but say they were called there for a report of an injured 18-month-old.

MICHIGAN–Investigators in Clinton Township late Tuesday were looking for a suspect and motive in a double homicide involving a mentally impaired woman and her 12-year-old daughter who were found dead in their apartment from multiple cuts. The bodies of the 46-year-old woman and her daughter were found inside of Parkway Village Apartments about 3 p.m. Tuesday by a manager who entered their unit after neighbors reported not seeing the pair for several days. There was no sign of forced entry.

CLARKSVILLE, TN — A Montgomery County jury took only an hour to decide the guilt of a former Fort Campbell soldier charged with raping a 9-year-old girl in 2011. David Sabedra, 25, was found guilty of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of child rape, attempted child rape, two counts of solicitation of a minor and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
