A person close to the investigation of a shooting in Chicago that left a woman and three children dead says the gunman told police that he committed the crime after hearing voices telling him to kill his family.

The person also says the gunman chased a 12-year-old girl from the house early Wednesday, shot at her and missed. The girl later alerted police about what had happened.

Police said among the victims killed were a 7-month-old boy, a 3-year-old girl, a 16-year-old pregnant girl, and an adult pregnant female. Their identities have not been released.

Two convicted in pimping children in West Seattle ring

Posted by Sandra On April - 16 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Two young men convicted of pimping children as part of a West Seattle street gang have been sentenced to years in prison.

A King County jury returned guilty verdicts Feb. 19 against alleged West Side Street Mobb members Donta Walters and Gamada Abdullahi. Each was found guilty of prostituting children and conspiring with Street Mobb members to prostitute teen girls.

King County prosecutors claimed each man pimped underage girls as part of a prostitution ring that’s already garnered convictions against six members of the West Seattle-based gang. The convictions follow that of Deshawn Cashmoney Clark, a 19-year-old man sentenced to a 17-year prison term following convictions on human trafficking and child prostitution charges.

Step-father of 7-Year-Old-Gang Rape Victim has a Shady Past

Posted by Sandra On April - 15 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

"Gregory Joseph Leary"

The stepfather who defended three of the men accused of taking part in the gang rape of a 7-year-old girl at a party after she was allegedly pimped out by her teenage stepsister is a convicted sex offender. This certainly explains a lot. In the meantime, two boys, who are ages 13 and 14 were charged in the horrific crime. They identified Gregory Leary, who has already been arrested, as one of the sickos involved in the attack. You’ll remember that Father of The Year claimed Leary was just trying to help. Pop the hood.

A LOOK BACK: 30 Catholic priests accused of child abuse

Posted by Sandra On April - 15 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

In an investigation spanning 21 countries across six continents, The Associated Press found 30 cases of Roman Catholic priests accused of abuse who were transferred or moved abroad.

Here are snapshots of the cases:

___

REV. DENIS VADEBONCOEUR

Vadeboncoeur, a 69-year-old priest, served a 20-month sentence in Quebec in the 1980s after pleading guilty to sexual abuse and sodomy of four teenage boys.

Afterward, he moved to a small parish in Normandy, France — and was convicted in 2005 of raping an adolescent boy. He was sentenced to 12 years in a French prison, where he is now.

The bishop at the time, Jacques Gaillot, said he tried to give the priest a second chance.

“That was my first mistake,” Gaillot told The Associated Press. “Retrospectively I realized that I was wrong to take him in, and I was wrong not to say anything.”

A 1987 letter to Gaillot from Vadeboncoeur’s Canadian superior, Pierre Levesque, clearly spelled out Vadeboncoeur’s sex crimes and concerns that he would abuse again. But Levesque also supported Vadeboncoeur’s move to France and said “the hard lesson Vadeboncoeur endured had beneficial effects on him.”

Child abuse linked to pornography?

Posted by Sandra On April - 14 - 2010 1 COMMENT

Robert Gingrich, a psychologist who specializes in sex-related problems but has no specific knowledge of Thomas Ott’s case, said many male sexual abusers first become frequent users of pornography.

“It’s like alcohol. Some of us can handle it, and some of us can’t. I think pornography’s quite toxic. I’ve seen it do damage to marriages, and I’ve seen a lot of men I’ve worked with compulsively using it,” Gingrich said.

He said up until the early 1990s most pornography involved only adults. But growth of the internet offered more variety, including child pornography.

“I know in this era of Tiger Woods there’s this question, does sexual addiction really exist? Yes, it does. I’d rather try to get somebody off cocaine than pornography,” he said.

Federal Judge Rules Mother Can Sue U.S. Army in Child's Beating Death

Naeem Williams is facing the death penalty in the beating death of his 5-year-old daughter Talia

A South Carolina mother has been granted permission to sue the U.S. Army in the beating death of her little girl in a case that could force the Pentagon to take a hard look at its duties to families stationed on base.

Tarshia Williams’ 5-year-old daughter Talia was beaten to death on a Hawaii Army base after what she charged were repeated failures on the part of military personnel to protect her daughter from obvious signs of abuse, allegedly at the hands of her father and stepmother.
