SOUTH LOS ANGELES — The longtime L.A. Unified School District teacher accused of gagging and blindfolding students, putting cockroaches on their faces and feeding them semen was investigated for allegedly fondling a girl in 1994, but no charges were filed, authorities said. HAYWARD—Investigators in Hayward believe a nine-year-old girl missing since 1988 could be linked to the “Speed Freak Killers”, Wesley Shermantine and Loren Herzog.Hayward Police are now conducting an investigation in San Joaquin County in conjunction with the current search and investigation going on for other victims of Shermantine and Herzog. A student website has sparked outrage with an article declaring rape was fine as long as the attacker said “surprise”. The insulting feature on UniLad said the fact that only 15 per cent of rapes are reported was “good odds”. The article ended with the words: “UniLad does not condone rape without saying ‘surprise’.” The site, run by Plymouth University web design student Jamie Street and editor-in-chief Alex Partridge, also sold merchandise bearing the slogan “keep calm – it won’t take long”, gave advice on “how to pull a fresher” and featured other material too offensive to publish.  READ MORE HERE

Daughter’s ‘Skin Fell Off Her Legs’

A mother-of-two has been arrested after her 16-month-old daughter was so badly scalded in the bath that the ‘skin fell off her legs’. Danielle Connor, 23, who said she left the toddler unattended in the water for around 10 minutes, is now facing charges of child neglect. The girl was rushed to hospital suffering from second and third-degree burns on 30 per cent of her body from the waist down. She is currently listed in a serious condition. Connor of Washington County, Oklahoma, told police she had placed the toddler and her other three-year-old daughter in the bathtub at their home on Sunday night.  READ MORE HERE

Parents arrested after severely malnourished boy, 9, found wandering naked

A North Miami Beach couple severely beat their 9-year-old son, who was found so starved that he weighed just 35 pounds, police said. Marsee Strong, 34, and Edward Bailey, 40, appeared in court today, charged with aggravated abuse and neglect of a child.  They were arrested Saturday night on charges of aggravated child abuse. HARTFORD, CT — Joshua Komisarjevsky was formally sentenced to death Friday for the home invasion attack that left Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters, Hayley and Micahela, dead in their Cheshire home in the summer of 2007. FEDERAL WAY—A 33-year-old Federal Way woman, a certified nursing assistant, has been charged with assault after she allegedly poured cleaning powder in to the mouth of a 4-week-old infant she was babysitting. Charging documents said police were called to an apartment complex on Military Road South on Jan. 10 by a woman who reported her neighbor, Mabinty Williams, “knocked on her door and said there was a baby in her apartment and she didn’t know how it got there.” The neighbor also said Williams called the 4-week-old baby “evil.” READ MORE HERE

BROOKLYN, NY–Friends, relatives and neighbors were horrified after a mother abandoned her two little girls in the midst of a Canarsie housing project has the neighborhood. Wearing parkas and Ugg boots and each clutching a fistful of diapers, family members say 26-year-old Dalisha Adams left them as an angry message for their father. Bertha Davia, the little girls’ grandmother, spoke to PIX11 at the same corner where the girls were abandoned. “It’s making my heart have pain,” she wailed as she recounted how police came knocking at her door late Sunday night to say 4-year-old Diani and 3 year old Dominae had been ditched by their mother and were taken into protective custody. SANTA ANA, CA — An Orange County jury failed to reach a verdict and a judge declared a mistrial Monday in the case of a young mother accused of suffocating her newborn daughter and dumping her in a trash bin. SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – A former high-school teacher has pleaded not guilty to charges that he engaged in what prosecutors describe as “substantial unlawful sex acts” with a 14-year-old girl. Ricardo Aldana, 37, has been charged with seven felony counts of lewd acts on a child, and faces up to seven years in state prison if convicted. An award-winning high school teacher has been accused of having ‘intimate sexual relationships’ with two of her students, kissing a third on the lips and exchanging inappropriate texts and emails with a third. Joanne Léger-Legault, from Ottawa, Canada, was stripped of her teaching permit and fired by the city’s public school board over the allegations. She is a former teacher of A.Y. Jackson Secondary School and Merivale High School. A soccer coach has been charged with forcing a 13-year-old girl to make pornographic films of herself and posting them online for other paedophiles. Robert Vincent Peace is also alleged to have had more than 2,000 child porn images and videos at his California home. The 45-year-old, who is from the UK, worked as a youth football coach with girls and boys teams in the Orange County area. He was arrested after a member of his own family said they discovered a stash of child porn on his computer and handed it over to police. Investigators said they found 1,500 images and 300 videos on the computer taken from his home in Lake Forest, California.  READ MORE HERE
