MICHIGAN (WXYZ) – Teachers and school staff in Oakland County will be able to attend training sessions in January and February to learn how to react in an active shooter situation. NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — An Alabama man accused of fatally stabbing his 2-year-old son wailed, banged his head on a table and asked a central Indiana judge for a rope to kill himself during his initial court appearance Thursday. Micah William Harrison, 30, of Robertsdale, Ala., feared someone was trying to kill him Wednesday when he fatally stabbed his 2-year-old son, Michael, in the chest with a kitchen knife and in the forehead with a nail-pulling tool, Noblesville police said in a probable cause affidavit. BELLEFONTE, Penn. — Jerry Sandusky gets a shot at regaining some of his freedom Thursday, when his lawyers launch an appeal to reverse his conviction on multiple counts of child sex abuse. The coach was sentenced in October to no less than 30 years and no more than 60 years in prison for abusing 10 boys during a 15-year period. He originally faced the possibility of up to a 400-year prison term. Thursday a 43-year-old Concord, NH woman was convicted of 8 sexually-related offenses following her November arrest for filming her 14-year-old daughter having sex with several men over the course of 2012, and then recording herself performing oral sex on the child. Julie M. Calahan pleaded guilty to felony child abuse and voluntary manslaughter

VIRGINIA BEACH– A mother should serve 15 years in prison for killing her 11-month-old daughter and abusing her son, a Circuit Court judge ruled Tuesday. Julie M. Calahan, 24, pleaded guilty last year to voluntary manslaughter and felony child abuse after investigators learned she had admitted on the social networking website Facebook to hurting her daughter, Lakeira Jewell Calahan. ORLANDO — A new report out shows 130 Florida kids died because of child abuse or neglect in Florida in 2011. Healthy Families Florida released its annual Child Abuse Death Review Wednesday. The report says the Department of Children and Families that 130 deaths statewide were related to child abuse or neglect. Most of the children who died were under four years of age. UPPER MARLBORO, Md. –  Prince George’s County Police have charged a day care worker with child abuse and assault. Nineteen-year-old Johnathan Cummings of Upper Marlboro was arrested Monday. He has been released on $35,000 bond.  READ MORE HERE

Threatens to Target L.A. Kindergarteners for Death

The 24-year-old man who threatened to commit Sandy Hook type crimes in L.A. claimed he was hell-bent on leaving “dead kindergartners” in his wake … yet he will not be prosecuted. Kyle Bangayan posted threats on Facebook the same day as the Newtown shooting … and claimed he was targeting L.A. schools … this according to a search warrant obtained by TMZ.
Kyle allegedly wrote, “No really America, if you post one more Facebook post about the shooting at that elementary school, I swear to whatever f**king god you believe in that I will do the same goddamn thing.” READ MORE HERE

BRADLEY COUNTY, TN.  – A Bradley County father is behind bars, charged with aggravated child abuse. Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Gault says 22-year-old Ricky Dean Smith was arrested after his five-week-old son was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. READ MORE HERE

Stuart Hall appeared before magistrates yesterday to deny allegations of sexually abusing young girls. The veteran broadcaster looked drawn and grey – a shadow of his normal ebullient self – as he entered court to face three counts of indecent assault. Wearing a dark suit and striped tie, the 82-year-old former It’s A Knockout host and BBC Radio 5 Live commentator said he was not guilty of all charges relating to three girls, aged between nine and 17. A woman who beat her son to death for failing to learn parts of the Koran by heart and burned his body to destroy the evidence has been jailed for life today. Sara Ege, 33, dressed in brown, with a matching headscarf, collapsed as the sentence was delivered at Cardiff Crown Court. She had to be helped from the dock as she was told she would serve a minimum of 17 years. Farwell, MI – William Nokes, a 45-year-old Michigan man, was jailed Christmas day after he allegedly had sex with his adult biological daughter on at least three occasions. According to Michigan State Police, an investigation was launched last September when Nokes’ daughter filed a complaint alleging that she and her father had engaged in sexual intercourse while she was visiting him in Farwell over the 4th of July Holiday. APPLE VALLEY, CA — A woman has been arrested in the death of a toddler who police say was made to ingest chili powder as a punishment. Amanda Sorensen, 21, of Apple Valley, was detained early Monday morning on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death. San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 20000 block of Cayuga Road at 4:16 p.m. Sunday for a child suffering from a seizure after ingesting chili powder. READ MORE HERE
