Julie M. Calahan pleaded guilty to felony child abuse and voluntary manslaughter
VIRGINIA BEACH– A mother should serve 15 years in prison for killing her 11-month-old daughter and abusing her son, a Circuit Court judge ruled Tuesday. Julie M. Calahan, 24, pleaded guilty last year to voluntary manslaughter and felony child abuse after investigators learned she had admitted on the social networking website Facebook to hurting her daughter, Lakeira Jewell Calahan. The mother also was convicted of abusing her young son, who had to be taken to a hospital for internal injuries. READ MORE HERE
