LUDINGTON, Michigan — The state appeals court says a murder charge can stick against a northern Michigan man accused of killing his infant daughter, whose body hasn’t been found. In a 3-0 decision released Friday, the court affirmed a decision by a Mason County judge. Katherine Phillips, known as “Baby Kate,” disappeared in 2011 in the Ludington area, about 80 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. Her father, Sean Phillips, is charged with murder. READ MORE HERE

Body in freezer believed to be missing Bradenton girl
FLORIDA – A body discovered in a deep freezer at a Bradenton home on Sunday night is believed to be that of 11-year-old Janiya Thomas, who has not been seen since August 2014. Her mother, Keishanna Thomas age 31, is in jail, charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse in connection with two incidents involving her other child, a 12-year-old son. Teen, Lucas Leonard, beaten to death at church while confessing sins
NEW YORK – A teenager was allegedly beaten to death by his parents and other church members during a counseling session in which he was supposed to confess his sins. The 19-year-old’s younger brother also suffered blunt force trauma injuries during the assault. He was hospitalized in serious condition. The brutal beatings occurred during a Sunday night service at Word of Life Christian Church in New Hartford, New York, during a counseling session on the spiritual state of the two brothers. LAKEWOOD, Colorado — A Lakewood mother is accused of pimping out her 12-year-old daughter to a man in exchange for money and gifts. Julie Greiner is charged with human trafficking of a minor for sexual servitude, pimping of a child and sexual assault of a child. Lakewood police said Greiner turned a blind eye to an online sexual relationship between her daughter and 23-year-old Thomas Keski in Australia. READ MORE HERE

This is the emotional moment when a Chinese father, who spent 20 years searching for his abducted son all over the country, has finally found his child yesterday. Sun Wei was abducted when he was just four years old and sold to a family over 1,400 miles away from home. His father, Sun Zhenghua, has spent some eight months of every year searching for him ever since. The pair finally reconnected after finding a match on Chinese police’s DNA database. READ MORE HERE

Mother of infant Chance Walsh charged with 1st degree murder
SARASOTA, Florida — The mother of infant Chance Walsh was formally charged with first-degree murder Saturday. Kristen Bury, 32, of North Port made her first appearance before a Sarasota County judge Saturday morning and was denied bond. She also faces one count of child neglect in the death of Chance, whose body was found in a makeshift grave Thursday. The baby’s father, Joseph Walsh, also will be charged with murder after he is extradited from South Carolina, according to Bury’s probable cause affidavit. “Both Kristen Bury and Joseph Walsh were principals in the commission of 1st degree felony murder,” the affidavit says. DENVER – A Colorado man convicted of kidnapping a toddler from a couple he was staying with in California and sexually abusing the child to produce pornography that he shared online was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday, prosecutors said. A federal jury found Shawn McCormack, 31, of Colorado Springs guilty on four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of kidnapping during a four-day trial in Fresno, California, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement. Senior U.S. District Court Judge Anthony W. Ishii presided over those proceedings in April, and on Tuesday he imposed the sentence on McCormack, the statement said. READ MORE HERE

Baby survives after 26-yo pregnant woman stabbed to death by boyfriend
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — North Charleston police have charged a man with murder after they say he stabbed his pregnant girlfriend to death Saturday night. Malakia Lasha Frazier, 26, of North Charleston died at MUSC just before midnight Saturday from multiple stab wounds, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Dottie Lindsay said. Authorities said her child was born during an emergency delivery and is in intensive care. Ricky Short, 26, is charged with murder, attempted murder of their unborn child and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. READ MORE HERE

GEORGIA – Authorities in Georgia said a mother admitted to drowning her two children Tuesday. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said Jokeera Morgan, 26, called 911 shortly before 12:38 p.m. ET and said she drowned her two daughters, 18 months old and 8 months old, at her Savannah home. Officers gave the girls CPR, but the children were pronounced dead on arrival at an area hospital, police said. READ MORE HERE

WHITE COUNTY, Indiana — A former pastor accused of child molestation was sentenced in a White County courtroom Friday. James Crawn, 46, pleaded guilty in August to a count of child molestation, a Class A felony. Crawn is a former pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Idaville. He was arrested in late April and charged with two counts of child molestation, as well as child seduction and sexual misconduct with a minor. READ MORE HERE

A former Mrs. Orange County was charged today with using a 4-year-old relative to make child pornography and selling it to a Marine stationed in Southern California, authorities said. Meghan Breanna Alt, 25, of Irvine, being held on $100,000 bail, was charged with a count of possession and control of child pornography and three counts of lewd acts on a child younger than 14, all felonies. She also faces a sentencing enhancement allegation of substantial sexual conduct with a child. READ MORE HERE

A substitute teacher in New Port Richey was arrested Friday accused of molesting two children more than 50 times. Roy Wingo, 68, appeared in court on Saturday. He’s been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and lewd and lascivious battery. Pasco County deputies said the victims were between the ages of 11 and 15, and 8 and 9 during the alleged molestation. READ MORE HERE

CORTLAND, Ohio – A Trumbull County man was found guilty Friday on four counts of rape against a young girl. The jury handed down their decision Friday in the case against Frank Arcuri, 35, of Cortland. Arcuri was arrested at his Frostwood Drive home in April on rape charges. According to Bazetta Police, the Cortland man committed crimes against an 8-year-old girl, beginning in 2013 and lasting through earlier this year. READ MORE HERE
