The child was hospitalized Thursday at St. John Medical Center, but he was later transferred to Saint Francis Hospital, authorities said. READ MORE HERE

Etan Patz Murder Suspect: ‘It’s Like Something Just Took Over Me’

140915-etan-patz-mn-855_fa5ea8218b9b0eff1915a0e12213f1bf.nbcnews-fp-1600-600The alleged killer of Etan Patz said in a taped confession played in court today that he tried to stop choking the 6-year-old but couldn’t. “It was like something just took over me,” said suspect Pedro Hernandez on the three-hour tape, as Patz’s father listened. “I tried to let go but I just couldn’t let him go.” The three-hour alleged confession to the 1979 crime is being played in full in a New York City courtroom today, as part of a pre-trial hearing in which a judge will decide whether the tape will be admissible at trial. Patz’s disappearance from outside his lower Manhattan home on May 25, 1979 helped spark national efforts to find missing children, including putting pictures on milk cartons and the designation of May 25 as National Missing Children’s Day, but the case lay dormant for decades. MASON COUNTY, MI — A Mason County judge has dismissed the murder charge against Sean Phillips, the Victory Township man accused of killing his infant daughter known to many as “Baby Kate” back in 2011. The decision was released by the office of District Court Judge Peter J. Wadel early Monday morning, Sept. 15, nearly a year after Phillips was charged with open murder of his daughter, Katherine “Baby Kate” Phillips who disappeared in Mason County on June 29, 2011. 6571445e85fe08afaefe0c85985e1a02Tuesday, local non-profit organization Dreamcatchers for Abused Children officially announced their new Domestic Violence Spokesperson, Ann Livingston.Livingston is a survivor of Domestic Violence. She is devoted to her seven children, five of them are survivors of abuse. Living the quiet life in a small country town in Michigan, Livingston is honored to be part of a group that helps give a voice to those who can’t find their own yet. Livingston said, “I want to leave footprints that others would want to follow in.”

Statistics suggest 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, women experience more than 4 million physical assaults and rapes, men are victims of nearly 3 million physical assaults, a domestic violence act occurs every 15 seconds, women are more likely to be killed by an intimate partner than men and every year, 1 in 3 women who is a victim of homicide is murdered by a current or former partner.

Livingston already has many plans in the works for Domestic Violence Awareness month in October. She is focused on ideas that are going to change the way people view domestic violence; from the stand point of the victim and the children who witness the violence in the home. READ MORE HERE

Defrocked Priest Found Guilty of Multiple Child Rapes

Unicef Report Details Endemic Violence Against Children

download (1)UNITED NATIONS — One in 10 girls worldwide have been forced into a sexual act, and six in 10 children ages 2 to 14 are regularly beaten by parents and caregivers, according to a report issued Thursday by the United Nations’ children’s agency, Unicef. The report, drawing on data from 190 countries, paints a picture of endemic physical and emotional violence inflicted daily on children, mostly at home and in peacetime rather than on the streets or during war. Homicide is especially common in some of the Latin American countries from which children are fleeing by the tens of thousands into the United States: It is the leading killer of adolescent boys ages 19 and under in El Salvador, Guatemala and Venezuela. Missing 2-YO Colton Turner Found Deceased

Pelfrey1Police say they have every reason to believe that the remains of a small child found in Southeast Austin are those of two-year-old Colton Turner. Cedar Park police reported Colton as missing and in danger Thursday. A candlelight vigil is planned for Colton at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 13th next to the Cedar Park Police Department. Police say at around 2:05 p.m. they located a body off Felter and Burleson Road. Officers say the body was in a small grave. Colton’s mother, Meagan Work, was booked into the Williamson County Jail for abandoning and endangering a child without the intent to return. She was later moved to the Travis County Jail where she was booked for tampering evidence with additional charges pending. READ MORE HERE

downloadPolice say the mother of a toddler found dead in an Oceanside home has admitted to drowning her child after suffering depression over a custody battle. Detectives arrested Veronica Rivas, 28, on Friday in the death of her 22-month-old son Elijah. She was booked into the Vista Detention Center on a first-degree murder charge. Officers were called to Rivas’ condo on Woodpark Way Wednesday night when the child’s grandmother called 911. capture-20140913-222900MAYFIELD, Kentucky –A mother and her teenage son have both died in an incident that started in Mayfield but ended in Ohio. The investigation began at a convenience store on the southside of Paducah. Paducah Police got a call Friday morning of a possible abduction. Video showed a woman getting out of a white 2004 Yukon SUV and being forced back inside the vehicle. Around 10:00 a.m., friends of 34-year-old Kimberly Thomas (Jackson) went to her home in Mayfield after she did not report to work. When they arrived they found her son, 17-year-old Michael Eli Mohney, dead inside. The Graves County Coroner Phillip McClain says Mohney died of 2 gunshot wounds. READ MORE HERE

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson turned himself in to Montgomery County, Texas, authorities early Saturday morning. He was booked into the Montgomery County jail at 1:06 a.m. CT and released at 1:35 a.m. CT after posting the $15,000 bond. Peterson had been indicted by a grand jury on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child and a warrant had been issued for his arrest. He flew back early Saturday morning to Minnesota, where he has been deactivated for the Vikings’ home game against the Patriots on Sunday. READ MORE HERE
