A Republican politician personally endorsed by vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is today at the center of a storm after a controversial interview emerged in which he relayed his father’s advice that ‘some girls rape easy.’ Desperately trying to control the damage, Wisconsin state Rep. Roger Rivard, claimed that repeating his father’s comments were meant as a warning that a woman could agree to sex but then later claim it wasn’t consensual. However, the backlash has been severe, with Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan announcing today he was withdrawing his support for the embattled representative who is running for re-election. Sandusky to KEEP his $900,000 in pension payments in spite of his 30 year jail sentence after abusing 10 boys
Convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky will be allowed to keep the more than $900,000 he earned in state pension payments in spite of his recent sentencing of 30 to 60 years in prison. Because of the bylaws of the Pennsylvania state employee’s retirement system, the former football coach will keep the hundreds of thousands of dollars he earned following his 1999 retirement from Penn State University’s sports program. The state’s forfeiture law does not authorize the government body to go after money paid before the date of a plea or conviction, meaning he will keep everything awarded between 1999 and September 2012. An inmate on death row used his last breath to protest his innocence of the murder of a 12-year-old girl as he was executed in Texas last night despite his legal team arguing he was mentally ill. Jonathan Green, 44, was jailed for the abduction, rape and strangling of Christina Neal, 12, whose body was found at his home a month after she was reported missing in 2000. Several last ditch appeals were made on the basis of his mental health in an attempt to save him from the death penalty but Green was given a lethal injection after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the arguments to spare him. Authorities combing Pattridge Park open space in Arvada, Colorado discovered a body Wednesday evening, but will not say if it is the body of missing Westminster 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway who disappeared on Friday on her way to school. On Wednesday, around 6:40 p.m., Westminster Police Department tweeted the following new information in the ongoing investigation: This afternoon a body was discovered near the Pattridge Park Open Space in the City of Arvada. WAYNE — An Essex County sheriff’s officer has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing two minors. Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes says 48-year-old Thomas Ingham of Wayne was arrested Thursday. Prosecutors say Ingham allegedly sexually assaulted two family friends when they were between the ages of eight and 14 years-old. READ MORE HERE
