Woman Charged With Abuse, Attempted Murder
OLATHE, Kan. — A judge ruled Tuesday that there was enough evidence to try a DeSoto, Kan., woman on three charges that she starved her 6-year-old son.Attorneys for Rachel Perez said she was willing to plead guilty to charges of child abuse and child endangerment, but she would not plead guilty to a third charge of attempted murder. The judge indicated a willingness to accept the offer, but said Perez would have to give up rights that she wasn’t willing to cede.
