SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Timothy White, the youngest victim and last survivor of a notorious California kidnapping saga whose rescue offered hope to parents of missing children, has died.

He was 35.

Timothy White was 5 years old when he was kidnapped in Ukiah by child molester Kenneth Parnell.

Two weeks later, fellow kidnap victim Steven Stayner, 14, fled with the boy, known as “Timmy,” and hitchhiked to safety.

The dramatic story was told in the 1989 television movie, “I Know My First Name is Steven.”

White’s stepfather, Roger Gitlin, said White died April 1 of an apparent pulmonary embolism.

Il was so shocked when I read the article about Timmy White sadly passing away. I googled Stephen Stayner again and the newspaper article re Timmy flashed up. Ito is so incredibly said that two men, who are an inspiration to us all, are no longer with us.

I first watched “I know my first name is Stephen” about 17/18 years ago when it was first broadcast in th UK. It was a remarkable film and it has never left me. I can still feel the horrific gasp I took at the end of the film when it said that poor Stephen had lost his life so tragically. It is beyond beggars belief that Parnell went on to live his life and be freed from his prison. It just not make any sense to me.

God Bless you both Stephen and Timmy, you will never, ever be forgotten. Rest in peace and lots of love and strength to both of your families. xxxx
