A 1-year-old believed to have been severely beaten in a home near DeLand is showing signs of improvement and is off life support, friends and family said Friday. Now, fundraisers to help pay medical bills and care for Isaiah Mitchell are being organized, said family friend Peggy Hayman. “Every day he seems to be getting better. It’s amazing,” Hayman said. As part of his recovery, doctors have said Isaiah will have to wear a special helmet to protect his skull, part of which was removed to drain fluids from his brain, Hayman said. READ MORE HERE
