Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Ryan Turner confirmed the baby’s death this morning and said investigators are going to the LSU Regional Burn Center in Shreveport today to speak with doctors and medical personnel. The Sheriff’s Office will work with the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office after interviews are complete to “determine what the next course of action will be,” Turner said. Deputies were called to a local hospital on the afternoon of Sept. 21 in response to a baby whose skin was covered in burns, Turner said.
