RULING: Doctor failed to protect Baby P & breached professional duty
A GP who examined Baby P on at least 15 occasions became the first medical professional to be found guilty today of missing a series of opportunities to save his life. Dr Jerome Ikwueke, 63, faces being struck off for failing to notice the extensive injuries Peter Connelly suffered from horrific abuse. The Nigerian doctor was found guilty of a ‘serious breach’ of professional duty and of allowing his conduct to fall below the standard expected of a competent GP, the General Medical Council ruled today.
