A 70-year-old music teacher accused of molesting a nine-year-old student allegedly offered to pay off the child’s mother, close the school and disappear, in exchange for her silence. Ilya Lehman, head of the elite music school in New York City, was allegedly caught in the act by the girl’s mother during a lesson in the family’s home. According to Manhattan Assistant District Attorney, Nahal Batmanghelidj, Lehman then had his lawyer call the victim’s mother offering to pay back money for the lessons, close his schools and vanish.
