Man Guilty of Brutal Abuse, Murder of Stepson

Brandon R'eal Lockett Sr. pleaded no contest to charges of felony child abuse and neglect and second degree felony murder in Judge Cliff Weckstein's courtroom on Tuesday. He is represented by his attorneys Rachel Jackson and Richard West.

Evidence showed the 2-year-old, AVEION LEWIS, had lost a quarter of his body weight and had suffered an untreated broken arm in the last month of his life.

Brandon R’eal Lockett Sr. has been found guilty of second-degree murder and child abuse and neglect in Roanoke Circuit Court after pleading no contest to the charges this afternoon. Lockett faces a up to 50 years in prison when he is sentenced in November in the January 2010 death of his stepson, toddler Aveion Lewis — 40 years is the maximum penalty on the murder charge, 10 years for the abuse and neglect.
