Man Faces 2,740 Counts of Child Rape
CURWENSVILLE — A Curwensville man is facing 2,740 counts of child sex abuse after being accused by a female juvenile of raping and molesting her repeatedly in incidents that date back to 2011. Curwensville Borough Police Chief David Johnston filed the following charges against Steve Daniel Kephart, 33:
- 308 counts each of rape-forcible compulsion and rape-threat of forcible compulsion
- 283 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, all of which are first-degree felonies, 283 counts of second-degree felony aggravated indecent assault-without consent
- 283 counts of second-degree felony aggravated indecent assault-victim younger than 16 years old
- 567 counts of second-degree statutory sexual assault
- 6 counts of second-degree felony photograph/film/depict on computer sex act-child, three counts of third-degree felony child pornography
- 307 counts of corruption of minors defendant age 18 or older
- 51 counts of first-degree felony rape of a child
- 24 counts of first-degree IDSI-forcible compulsion
- 24 counts of IDSI-threat forcible compulsion
- 283 counts of second-degree misdemeanor indecent assault-person younger than 16 years old
By the time you finish reading this, 15 children will have been abused; In the next five minutes, 30 more; Within the next hour, 360 more; And by tonight, close to 8,000+ children will have suffered from abuse, 5 of which will die. Child abuse has increased 134% since 1980 and is now considered a worldwide epidemic.
