Accused Arizona Gunman/Child Killer Makes His First Court Appearance
TUCSON, Ariz — The nation got its first look on Monday at the 22-year-old loner accused of trying to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Jared Loughner, head shaved, a cut above the right temple and his hands cuffed, scanned a packed courtroom and sat down. His attorney, who defended “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski, whispered to him.

Representative Giffords is in our hearts as our nation tries to understand this stark-mad and unmerited strike. It is to be desired that we will all transitorily put away our amplifying discord along republican vs democrat lines. We are all of us of the same heritage, peers, and have identical ethics and problems, and are more comparable than different.
