Father Suspected Of Killing Baby On The Run

SOUTH GATE — Police are looking for a 20-year-old South Gate man suspected of killing his 10-month-old daughter. Police were called to a home in the 5100 block of McCallum Avenue around 5:40 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say Jose Deras assaulted his wife and their daughter during an argument. The baby was unresponsive when officers arrived. She was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where she died of blunt force trauma.

Deras is described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He has curly black hair, a slight mustache and a goatee. Deras has a tattoo of a dragon on his right shoulder and a tattoo of skulls on his upper right shoulder.

He was last seen driving his black 2008 Nissan Sentra, black, 4-Door, California license number 6FYB170.
