Father Charged With Abusing 5-Week Old Infant

Bruce Ferguson at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. “But hopefully, I won’t see another one.” Ferguson said the abuse took place happened three times over the past few weeks. Each episode was brutal, according to doctors treating the infant. Kirk Mitchell, 23, has reportedly confessed to squeezing and shaking the five-week old infant so hard he fractured the baby’s ribs, fractured his skull and caused the child to bleed from several places.
