Ex-coach sentenced for child rape, assault

WOBURN — A former girls basketball coach will spend at least 20 years in prison after years of manipulating and sexually assaulting young girls under his care at the Melrose YMCA, according to the terms of a plea agreement reached yesterday with the Middlesex district attorney’s office.

By changing his plea, Conner avoided a trial in the case, which has dragged on for the past 16 months.
