Doctor trains public on abuse
Dr. Olga Rosa’s job can make her heart ache with anguish or burst with joy — often on the same day, sometimes simultaneously.
The coordinator of South Carolina’s statewide forensic pediatrics program, Rosa diagnoses hard-to-recognize child abuse and trains others on the intricacies of detecting abuse. She’s one of 180 nationwide in the first class of physicians certified in child abuse pediatrics, a subspecialty recently approved by the American Board of Pediatrics.
