Daycare provider pleads “guilty” in child’s death
A day care owner accused of child abuse and involuntary manslaughter after a 16-month-old boy died from heat exposure last March pleaded guilty and will serve up to 20 months in prison.
Judy Alvis Harper, 60, entered the guilty plea with no plea arrangement Tuesday in Alamance County Superior Court. Judge Paul Gessner ordered her to a jail sentence of 16 to 20 months and two years of supervised probation.
