Almost unthinkable – yet a more common CRIME than you might believe. In 2011, so far three children in the UK have been found guilty of murdering their parents. But what drives a child to kill their mum or dad? Abuse? Or just a petty row?
Just after 1am on July 7 last year, Ashleigh Robinson, a bright 19 year old from Colwyn Bay, North Wales, pressed ‘send’ on her mobile phone. The message was for her mother, Joanne Barr, and simply read: “Things happened, he is no more. Sorry mum xxx”. It soon became horribly clear just what Ashleigh was referring to. She and her sister, Holly, who was just 16, had plotted to have their loving dad, Antoni, 61, killed. The text was sent moments after the deed had been done.
