Flashbacks come and go for Shaya, and she thinks they’ll eventually taper off. She takes a medication that helps reduce dreaming even though sleep, at times, can be hard to come by. Shaya, whose real name is being withheld to protect her identity, was raped and sexually abused by her father for seven years, and when the crime first came to light, no one in her family believed her.
