Pennsylvania — A priest accused of traveling to Honduras to engage in sex with children while promoting missionary work with the poor there has been arrested by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. The Rev. Joseph Maurizio Jr., 69, was arrested Thursday and will remain in custody until a hearing Monday before a federal magistrate in Pittsburgh. The judge must decide then whether the priest will remain jailed until he can stand trial. The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown said it was “profoundly disturbed by the allegations against Father Maurizio.” It said he has not functioned as pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish since federal authorities searched the parish rectory on Sept. 12.

WASHINGTON — When FBI agents and police officers fanned out across the country last month in a weeklong effort to rescue child sex trafficking victims, they pulled minors as young as 11 from hotel rooms, truck stops and homes. Among the 168 juveniles recovered was a population that child welfare advocates say especially concerns them: children who were never reported missing in the first place. Advocates say the roundup reinforces the need for a standardized, nationwide approach to reporting children as missing, especially those absent from state foster care systems who are seen as most vulnerable to abuse. Concerns over unaccounted-for children aren’t new, but they’re receiving fresh attention amid heightened awareness of child sex trafficking. State and federal efforts are under way to streamline how police are alerted when kids go missing.

PLYMOUTH, Michigan -A 33-year old man accused of taking upskirt photos of a 13- year-old girl in a book store has been ordered to stand trial on a felony charge. Ronald Burrill from West Bloomfield is charged with one count of eavesdropping installing/using device. That carries a sentence of two years in prison, which carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison and or a fine of $2,000.

A new book has expressed in detail the sexual activities of a Satanic sex cult that apparently controlled a single cul-de-sac in the village of Kidwelly, Wales, and submitted a young girl from the age of seven to varied sexual abuse in a bid to appease the imagined God of an Edwardian sadist. The book, called the ‘Devil on the Doorstep’, tells of the group which followed the teaching of ‘The Great Beast’ Aleister Crowley, who inducted the girl into their ring after she witnessed her mother performing sexual acts as part of a pseudo-religious ceremony when she was only seven years old. At the age of eleven the group leader took her virginity and she was soon being subjected to group orgies.

A Southern California nanny is wanted by police for child abuse for allegedly giving two young children regular doses of adult cold and flu medicine before their nap time, police and the family of the children said. The boy’s parents believe their young children were being drugged by the same woman they trusted for more than a year to care for them. The parents claim she gave their 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter daily swigs of adult strength over-the-counter cold and cough medicine so they would nap.

EL PASO, Texas – Crimes Against Persons have arrested and charged three people after a two-year-old girl dies. El Paso Fire Fighters responded at around 4:50p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, to an apartment located at 4011 Alabama after a child was found to be unresponsive. The child was transported to El Paso Children’s Hospital by the El Paso Fire Department. At around 5:56pm El Paso Police were sent to the hospital after the child had died. Injuries were observed that appeared to be suspicious and, Crimes Against Persons was requested to take over the investigation.

The Vatican has opened a criminal trial against its former ambassador to the Dominican Republic and placed him under house arrest, marking the first time a high-ranking official has been criminally charged by the Vatican with sexual abuse of children. Josef Wesolowski was defrocked in June after the Vatican’s canon law court found him guilty of abuse and returned him to life as a layman. Wesolowski, who is from Poland, had been recalled from his post in August 2013 amid allegations that he had sexually abused teenage boys.

SYDNEY – A mobile phone belonging to a maths tutor charged with sexually assaulting his underage clients may help police identify up to 40 possible victims of the 66-year-old. Police have uncovered evidence which could suggest that Quy Huy Hoang could have come in to contact with more than the six children he has has been accused of sexually assaulting between 2007 and 2014. Up to 40 Images of underage boys and girls have allegedly surfaced on his phone which police seized during a dramatic arrest outside his Greystanes home, in Sydney’s west, earlier this month.

CHINA – A father who brutally beat his three-year-old son before posting graphic images of the child’s bruised body on the internet in a warped bid to force his estranged wife to return, is being hunted by police. Twisted Zhong Lo, 36, from Shantou city in south China’s Guandong Province posted pictures of the toddler on the Weibo website after apparently submitting him to six months of constant beatings. In chilling messages to his estranged wife Cai Lifen, 20, who left him in January this year, he begged her to return before falsely claiming to have beaten the child to death.

MICHIGAN – A dad accused of killing his 10-week-old baby has claimed that his miniature dachshund tripped him, causing him to fall on the child. The murder trial of Anthony Casanova, 41, began in Muskegon, Michigan on Tuesday, 20 months after the death of his baby son, Tyler, at their home in Norton Shores in January 2013. Casanova has claimed he was holding Tyler in one arm and letting his dog in through a glass door, when the pet ran between his legs, tripping him and causing him to drop the baby on the carpet and then fall on top of him, Mlive reported. But in court, jurors heard how, during a three-hour interview with cops, Casanova eventually said that he had squeezed the crying baby twice before hitting his head against a bed multiple times.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — Police say they have captured the man charged in the disappearance of a University of Virginia student. Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said Wednesday that 32-year-old Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr. is in custody in Galveston, Texas. Matthew is charged with abduction with intent to defile in the case of 18-year-old Hannah Graham, who has been missing since Sept. 13.

It wasn’t the crown that stole the spotlight at a North Texas high school’s homecoming ceremony last week, but rather the friendship between three very special young women. Anahi Alvarez was named Grand Prairie High School’s Homecoming Queen on Friday, but the 17-year-old didn’t bask in the limelight for even a moment. That’s because she and her friend Naomi Martinez, who had also been nominated for the honor, had promised each other that if they won they’d give the crown to a very important person in their lives: their best friend, Lillian Skinner. According to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, Skinner — a beloved student who is known for her cheerful energy and kind spirit — had been bullied by a group of girls prior to Friday’s event. The girls reportedly played a prank on Skinner by telling her that she had been nominated for the homecoming court, though she hadn’t been.

A wanted poster was issued today for a nursing assistant described as a ‘person of interest’ in the case of missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham. Detectives were also seen on Monday returning to search the apartment of Jesse ‘LJ’ Matthew in Charlottesville. The 32-year-old is wanted on two counts of reckless driving for speeding away from the police station on Sunday.
