DETROIT, Michigan -More details are being released about the shooting which killed 3-year-old Amiracle Williams and wounded four others on Detroit’s east side Thursday. Police arrested the suspected shooter, a 23-year-old man wanted in Virginia early Friday morning. Investigators have also arrested the 22-year-old man believed to have driven the getaway van. Both have ties to local gangs, according to police. Four suspects were arrested in total, including two others who have since been released. One of the shooting victims, Amiracle’s father Demetrious, 47, was listed in critical condition last night at a local hospital. Fox 2 was told he is awake and alert. Also shot was Amiracle’s mother Frieda Tiggs, 40, who is expected to be released tonight.

A teenage boy is in a critical condition after he was gang raped at a party by a group of men. The 15-year-old was attacked in Kentucky in a horrendous assault that was also filmed using a mobile phone. Three men have been charged with a serious sexual assault, promoting a sexual performance by a minor and use of a minor in sexual performance.

A British man believed to have knowledge of missing Madeleine McCann reportedly fled NSW after being convicted of child sex offences in the late 1990s. British media is reporting that 76-year-old Roderick McDonald will be questioned by UK police about a possible pedophile ring linked to the three-year-old’s disappearance in Portugal more than seven years ago. McDonald, known as Roderick William Robinson while in Australia, has previously been convicted of a number of sex offences, and received a six-month sentence for the sexual assault of a nine-year-old girl in Sydney in 1998-1999.

Police in Houston have charged two men for the brutal murder of 14-year-old Jose Meraz, who was slashed to death with a machete. The boy’s mutilated body was discovered in a heavily wooded area near the Addicks Reservoir by a dog walker. A third suspect, a 14-year-old male is being referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation Department authorities on a murder charge.

It would be convenient if we could spot a child abuser in a crowd to make sure they didn’t come anywhere near a child. Unfortunately, sexual abusers do not wear black hats nor can any one characteristic tell you who they are. Child abuse offenders often look, and act, just like everyone else. In fact, many times the family of the child has a relationship with the child abuser either because he (or she) is a family friend or because he is a member of the family. There is no single type of person that is a sexual abuser. Sexual abusers can be men or women of any age or socioeconomic status but are generally known by the child as only 10% of child sexual abuse cases are perpetrated by strangers.

A bully can turn something like going to the bus stop or recess into a nightmare for kids. Bullying can leave deep emotional scars. And in extreme situations, it can involve violent threats, property damage, or someone getting seriously hurt. If your child is being bullied, you want to act to help stop it, if possible. In addition, there are ways to help your child cope with teasing, bullying, or mean gossip, and lessen its lasting impact. And even if bullying isn’t an issue right in your house right now, it’s important to discuss it so your kids will be prepared if it does happen.

GREENE COUNTY — Leland Rodgers, 39, has been arrested on a charge of raping a minor in Greene County. Rodgers reportedly worked for the Miami Valley Child Development Center, at the Springfield Children’s Center location. Mary Burns, president of the center’s Head Start program, says Rodgers was a cook at the center and was never alone with children at the center. And the alleged victim was reportedly not from the center. Burns said the center performed the required background checks with the state Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the FBI. Those checks resulted in nothing that would lead center staff to believe Rodgers was capable of these accusations.

Las Vegas police were investigating what they called a murder-suicide of a man and his 18-month-old foster child Sunday morning. Officers responded at about 8:15 a.m. to the Oasis Vinings apartment complex at 6100 Carmen Blvd., near North Jones Boulevard and Vegas Drive. The man’s body was found inside of a car, and the girl’s body was inside a crib in an apartment, police said. The man’s wife told police the couple recently had become the foster parents of two children, the girl and another baby.

MEMPHIS, TN – A 39-year-old North Memphis man was convicted Friday of raping an 11-year-old girl who was a relative of an acquaintance, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich. After the Criminal Court jury’s verdict, Christopher Bailey of the 900 block of North Watkins was automatically sentenced to 25 years in prison with no parole. The young girl testified that between December 2009 and April of 2012 Bailey often forced her to perform oral sex on him and that Bailey also threatened to hurt her if she told anyone.

The capture of fugitive child rape suspect Beth Dickerson took on a completely different look, and was far more involved than initially reported, following information gained from law enforcement Tuesday.In a brief announcement Monday night, Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said Dickerson, 31, of Calico Rock, was apprehended about 4 p.m. that afternoon in Baxter County. Dickerson reportedly was arrested by Baxter County Sheriff’s Office deputies after a traffic stop.

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — A Kent State University student and Cuyahoga Falls resident is accused of possessing more than 100 pictures and nine videos depicting child pornography. Justin L. Williams, 22, of Cuyahoga Falls faces eight felony charges of possessing child pornography. More charges could be be added when the case is presented to a Summit County grand jury.

Disturbing news has been reported about founding Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn. The musician’s ex-wife, Marina Ginn, has filed an affidavit accusing Ginn of child abuse, including acts of denying food to 10 and 7-year-old daughters, threatening them with physical abuse, emotionally harassing them and doing drugs in front of both daughters. After a 10-year hiatus, Greg Ginn and vocalist Ron Reyes re-formed Black Flag. Ginn, who owns the Black Flag name, unsuccessfully sued former Black Flag members Keith Morris, Dez Cadena, Chuck Dukowski and Bill Stevenson for performing live under the name FLAG.
