NORTH CAROLINA – A woman, 22-year-old Asia Larose Brown, and her 2 year old son were found murdered inside a burned car in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week. Local police responded to a call at 3:30 p.m. upon reports of the two dead bodies being found on Thurston Avenue in Southern Greensboro. Authorities told reporters that the position in which the bodies found were “consistent with a homicide,” and that they had interviewed people of interest Sunday, “concluding that they had no murder suspects at that time.”

TENNESSEE – A Sevier County man already indicted on charges of child pornography now is charged with dozens of counts of child rape, authorities said. Jonathan Ryan Lewis, 30, of Kodak, was charged Monday with 34 counts of rape of a child involving a boy under age 13, according to a Sevierville Police Department news release Thursday.

EVERETT, Washington — An Everett man with a previous conviction for raping and killing a 6-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly having and distributing photos of child rape, U.S. attorneys announced Friday. Federal prosecutors say Andrew Evich, 67, had been posing online as a 13-year-old boy looking for sexually explicit images of children. Prosecutors allege Evich was using a peer-to-peer file sharing computer program to receive and distribute sexually explicit images of young boys being molested or raped. Evich is a registered sex offender stemming from a 1974 conviction for raping and murdering a 6-year-old boy in Whatcom County. He was sent back to prison in 1985 for having sexual contact with a 15-year-old. Evich was given a third prison sentence in 1998 on charges of possessing child pornography.

IRELAND – A ten-year-old boy in Ireland has saved his sister from being abducted. The boy jumped onto a moving SUV to save his 12-year-old sister from a convicted sex offender. The children, along with a second brother, were playing outside near the Cullahill village when a man asked for directions to a priest’s home. The man grabbed the girl, but her heroic brother jumped through the driver’s window and punched him. While the driver was distracted, his sister escaped from the car. Police were able to locate and arrest the 34-year-old suspect. The Irish Independent notes that in addition to being a sex offender, the man has robbed priests’ homes in the past. In 2004, he was sentenced to four years in jail for abducting a 14-year-old girl.

Michigan ranks No. 2 for human trafficking sex trade behind only Nevada. In an effort to crack down on adults and juveniles abducted and used as sex slaves Gov. Rick Snyder is announcing a new team to fight crime. Snyder has appointed Cpl. Erin Diamond from the Wayne County Sheriffs Department. Diamond will chair and lead investigations for the state’s new Human Trafficking Commission. You may recognize Diamond, he’s arrested thousands of sex offenders over the years investigating online with the Wayne County Sheriff Department. This new team picked by Snyder will enhance the crime fighting strategy, Diamond said. “Before it was just enforcement,” he said. “‘Let’s go get the bad guy assaulting children and move on with it.’ This is a whole different aspect where we’ve realized that the victims need help. “We’ve always talked about helping the victims. This is the first major efforts to bring all the players to the table and say what can we do as a team.” The team played a big role in the safe return of 16-year-old Aaron and his 13-year-old sister Emma Blackwell. The teens were abducted at gunpoint in Indianapolis, Indiana at the start of this week.

A 19-year-old man remains in jail after he was accused of beating and raping his 3-year-old stepdaughter, who died two days after the incident. But investigators said they are waiting for the medical report to determine if charges will be upgraded. Pascal Kaufmann was arrested in November 2014 and charged with four counts of sexual battery. He remains in the Orange County Jail without bond. Officials with the State Attorney’s Office told News 13 that charges are likely to be upgraded against Kaufmann, but they are waiting for the medical examiner’s report before any decision is made.

While walking near her home 23 years ago, 12-year-old Lianna Rebolledo was abducted and brutally raped by two men. “It was very violent,” she said. “I honestly thought they were going to kill me.” After the attack, no length of a shower could make her feel clean; she felt like what had happened to her was her fault and that she had no value. A suicide attempt landed her in the hospital, where a doctor told her the last thing she expected to hear — she was pregnant. The doctor encouraged Rebolledo to have an abortion, telling her it was her right to do so, so she wouldn’t have a constant reminder of the attack. However, the young, fragile girl had the acumen to ask her doctor one important question: Would an abortion ease her pain and help her forget about her rape?

Three women have come forward to say that a Catholic priest already facing child sexual abuse accusations molested them in the 1990s and he allegedly forced one to perform oral sex while in the confessional. Two of the three cases occurred when Reverand Mark Haynes was assigned to St. Ann’s parish in Phoenixville and all women were minors at the time, say police. One of those three women said that Haynes attacked her when she confessed that she performed oral sex on a teenage boy. He then made her repeat the sex act on him.

U.S. Marshals arrested a Fort Yates man on Monday who has been charged in U.S. District Court of North Dakota with child abuse and assault. Waylon Jason Pumpkinseed, 29, is accused of repeatedly shaking and squeezing a 4-month-old child, with one incident resulting in the child’s hospitalization at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center. Katherine Ludewig, a special agent for the FBI, wrote that the case came to her attention on Sunday, after Pumpkinseed brought the child to the emergency room at Fort Yates Hospital.

A grandfather whose body was found alongside his slain seven-year-old grandson and heavily pregnant daughter in a suspected murder-suicide, was well known to police and had a long history of mental illness. Derek John Sharpley, 52, was found dead of gunshot wounds to the head in the same room that his grandson Jackson’s body was found tucked into a bed at his Biddeston property, west of Brisbane in Queensland. His 27-year-old daughter Kris-Deann Sharpley, who had moved to the Queensland town in 2011 to care for him following her mother’s death, also died of gunshot wounds to the head and was found in the bathroom.

Dustin Moffat, 32, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl multiple times, videotaped it and uploaded it to the Internet. Though he’s currently in custody, police in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania, believe there might be more victims. The girl’s father was enraged and sought retribution against Moffat. WTAE caught the father, who has not been named, going to Moffat’s home and climbing on top of his SUV. The father then smashed the car’s windows with a hammer, screaming in anger.

A 32-year-old man raped his two-month-old son and sent footage of the attack to a pedophile ring, a trial in Norway has heard. The father admitted the offences yesterday at the start of what the prosecutor described as one of the most ‘serious abuse cases in Norwegian legal history’. He has been charged with two other men and two women with their involvement in a pedophile network which filmed their own children in sexual positions or acts.

A Hatfield man who was convicted last year of raping a young girl in his care and indecently assaulting one of her friends will most likely be spending the rest of his life behind bars. Luis Ramos, 77, was sentenced to serve 30 to 200 years in state prison. He was also sentenced to 30 years of probation which was set to run consecutively with the end of his sentence. He will get credit for time served since Jan. 20, 2012. “I find you to be the poster boy for denial,” Judge Gary Silow said before giving his sentence. “People like you have no right to destroy the lives of young children.”
