After prosecutors Thursday charged an imprisoned sex offender with the 2004 rape and murder of 3-year-old Riley Fox, some residents of Wilmington, where the family lived, said they hoped that this will help end a very painful chapter for all those involved.

The Chester County Prosecutor’s office has announced the arrest of a Kennett Square Police Officer. He has been charged with over 500 counts of sexual assault.

54-year-old Jose Manuel Santiago has been charged with rape, aggravated indencent assault, statuatory sexual assault and other first degree felonies after being investigated by the Chester County Detectives Child Abuse Unit.

In a written statement, officials say the incidents allegedly occurred with multiple victims between 1991 and 2000 involving victims as young as ten with abuse continuting into the victim’s teenage years.

A 27 year old Tampa man has vanished after the death of his girlfriend’s 3 year old son. According to the St. Petersburg Times, Mitchell Blanco, 27, told his girlfriend and investigators that the child had fallen. However, it was determined that the child had multiple concussions and fresh bruising around his ribs and abdomen, consistent with being struck with a blunt object. Blanco has been charged with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

The parents of an 8-year-old boy found hog-tied with duct tape and tied to a coffee table have been indicted on a series of charges.

The family of a 14-year-old boy allegedly abused by fellow student-athletes in a locker room and on a school bus is planning to sue an Indiana school district for $2.2 million.
The boy, who is not identified in court records because of his age, was the alleged victim of several instances of sexual abuse and harassment by varsity basketball players at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana.

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was arrested Wednesday evening on two felony battery charges after she abused her children in a fit of rage, police said.

Officers said that Alisha Foster, 21, was arguing with the father of the children, Dustin Dodd, 21, over the phone when she became very upset, grabbed two kitchen knives and attacked her 2-year-old son, leaving him with contusions on his head and face and choke marks on his neck.

An Elgin man is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on charges he sexually abused three children younger than 13, authorities said.

Jose L. Jaramillo, 58, of the 300 block of North Jackson Street, faces seven counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count each of child exploitation and predatory criminal sexual assault. If convicted of the most serious offense, a Class X felony, he could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

Carlos Moreira, 65, told detectives that on the morning of May 4, 2007, he saw a blond girl sitting in the back of a truck, wearing pajamas similar to those worn by Madeleine the night she vanished.

A teenage girl in Garland, fearing she would be harmed, waited nearly five months to accuse a teaching assistant of raping her in January, according to a court document.

Dennis Connor, 27, of Garland, was being held Wednesday at Dallas County jail, with bail set at $25,000, jail records showed. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault of child.

SPRINGFIELD – Police arrested a 23-year-old city man Tuesday night in connection with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in the city’s Forest Park neighborhood, police said.

WOBURN – A gymnastics coach has been convicted in the rape of one of his former students.

Steven Infante, of New Milford, Conn., was found guilty of rape of a child Wednesday by a jury in Middlesex Superior Court. Infante was scheduled to be sentenced late Wednesday.

He calls child abuse the biggest local crime problem in Lane County.

“I’d say it’s right at the top of our list of concerns,” he said. “Children are our most precious resource and harm done to them early on is harm that tends to be reflected through their lives.”
