DUNMORE – A 29-year-old Dunmore man is accused of raping a 14-year-old boy and is a suspect in the sexual assaults of at least five other boys and girls as young as 7.

Charges against Shane Connor of 98 Willow St. in those cases could be filed by the end of the week, Dunmore police Capt. William Springer said.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — It’s been almost eight years since baby Brianna Lopez was brutally abused and killed by her own family. The first investigator at the scene was Lindell Wright of the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s office.

“When I arrived at the hospital, I expected child abuse, but nothing to the extent of what I saw that day,” said Wright.

What Wright saw was lifeless 6-month-old Brianna Lopez bruised from head to toe, bite marks all over her body, bleeding to her brain and sexual trauma.

The former pastor of a Fairfax County church pleaded guilty Monday morning to molesting two boys who were under his supervision in the 1990s, and Fairfax prosecutors agreed to a deal in which the man would spend no time in jail.

But Fairfax Circuit Court Judge Randy I. Bellows said he may not accept the deal, in which case the defendant, Tommy R. Shelton Jr., could withdraw his plea and take the case to another judge.

“FINALLY now I feel safe.”

These were the words of 84-year-old Roland Smith’s rape victim after he was jailed for eight years – more than 40 years after committing his monstrous crimes. He was found guilty by a jury of twice raping the child in 1970, when she was 12 or 13-years-old. Smith had denied the charges, claiming she consented – which is an old defence in law because of the date of the offences, but no longer applies to new offences.

According to KSDK, a Saint Charles man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly abusing his daughter, Micha Harris, 10-months. Early Friday morning, the victim was rushed to the emergency room at Children’s Hospital in Saint Louis. The baby was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon.

The accused, James Harris, 24, was charged by the Saint Charles Sheriff’s department, for Child Abuse and assault. There is a likelihood that the charge of assault will be upgraded to Murder or at the very least Manslaughter.

A 22-year-old South Side woman was charged Monday with murder in connection with the death of her 21-month-old son, who died Sunday after being battered.

Doulesha Wyatt, of the 100 block of East 49th Street, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jaymeon Wyatt, according to police. She will appear in bond court on Tuesday.

Free trainings this August are expected to crest the “tipping point” milestone of five-percent of the entire lowcountry population, or 24,000 trained adults. The prevention programs include video instruction and interactive workbook tools that enable adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to the reality of the sexual abuse of children. The training is open to the public.

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina (The Weekly Vice) – Charles Lewis Gordon IV, 29, and his wife, Ashley Nicole Gordon, 26, were charged Friday after they allegedly starved their 9-month-old baby to death. According to Mount Pleasant police, officers were called to the couple’s apartment in June after one of the baby’s older siblings found the child unresponsive in his crib.

Opp, AL – Not a lot of info on this one yet, but police have arrested 25-year-old John Curtis Davis for the shooting death of his 4-year-old nephew, Curtis Alexander Rude. Family members say Davis got pissed after the child dropped a toy about the size of a checker on his foot, so he allegedly shot the kid in the chest with a .177 caliber pellet rifle.

HUDSON, TX – Police have charged 18-year-old Joseph Weeks with sexual assault after they say he raped a 13-year-old girl who was under the effects of cough medicine. Reports are that the girl’s mother allowed her to accompany Weeks and two others. The four went to a Walmart where they purchased cigarettes and cough syrup, consuming them in the parking lot before going to someone elses trailer. According to the affidavit, Weeks and the girl began kissing consensually. He then tried to round second base, but she told him to stop. But supposedly, Weeks past stopping and as the girl started feeling the effects of the medicine, Weeks forced himself on the girl.

Madera, Calif. – A California neighborhood got a nasty shock and realized why sometimes it pays to check out your neighbors, even if they look like harmless, old men. Police say they have arrested 82-year-old Douglas Machado, a registered sex offender, for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl over the course of the last few years. But that’s not the only person the nabbed at his home. Police also arrested his 31-year-old grandson, Charlie Brown, and accused him of molesting a 7-year-old boy and friend of the family.

A 27-year-old Red Wing man accused of raping a young boy pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

A plea bargain reached between attorneys calls for Nicolas Ryan Heath, 463 W. Eighth St., to spend a year in jail and up to 30 years on probation.

FARMINGTON — District Judge John Dean hopes his courtroom July 6 was an anomaly and not the start of a pattern.

Of the 72 people scheduled to stand before him that day, 10 suspects faced the same charge: Felony child abuse by DWI.

San Juan County prosecutes drunken drivers for child abuse if a child is in the vehicle, Chief Deputy District Attorney Dustin O’Brien said. The charge can turn a misdemeanor into a felony and a steep fine into three years in jail.

St. Louis (KSDK) — Neighbors in St. Charles County are appalled after watching one of their own being taken away by deputies accused of child abuse.

The suspect’s 11-month-old baby girl, Micha Harris, was rushed to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis Friday morning, but was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon. Now behind bars is her father, James Harris, 24. At first he was charged with child abuse and, later, assault, but deputies said, come Monday, it’ll likely be murder.
