The number of reports about inappropriate content on the web has risen, says the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP). According to CEOP figures there were more than 6,000 reports of child abuse in the last year, that’s 880 up on the previous year. A quarter of these related to grooming incidents and another quarter concerned the possession and distribution of sexually explicit images of children. A 3-month-old boy allegedly beaten by his teen father died Friday night at University Hospital, the Bexar County medical examiner’s office confirmed. Holden Resendez, who was on life-support, was declared dead just before 11 p.m., officials said. The infant’s father, Matthew John Resendez, 19, remained jailed Saturday night on an injury to a child charge and a $100,000 bail. He will likely face an upgraded charge of capital murder, officials said.

Now 32, Lynch has served 15 years on a 16- to 60-year sentence for second-degree murder and armed robbery in Payne’s 1995 slaying. Elias, 48, has served about 25 years of a 20- to 40-year sentence on second-degree murder and firearm charges. This year, the state Parole Board agreed to release them both, despite their history of misconduct in prison.

EPHRATA, Wash. —A Grant County woman accused of sexually abusing her children and broadcasting it on the Internet has pleaded guilty. The 30-year-old Warden, Wash., woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in Grant County Superior Court to four counts of first-degree rape of a child. Police say she performed various sex acts on her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son.

HOUMA, Louisiana — A Terrebonne man is charged with suffocating his 1-year-old son to death, police said Saturday. Cody John Paul Bourg, 23, 122 Garth Drive, was arrested Friday and booked on a single count of second-degree murder in the death of his son, Julian Bourg. Cody Bourg remained in the Terrebonne jail Saturday in lieu of a $500,000 bond. If convicted, he faces mandatory life in prison. But the accused man’s mother, brother and other family members interviewed Saturday night are devastated by the turn of events and said Bourg was a good father who would never hurt his child. Julian, they say, had a few respiratory problems but was otherwise healthy. He apparently suddenly stopped breathing Oct. 19 in the home on Garth Drive in the Ashland North subdivision, relatives said.

NASSAU — Police believe a 43-year-old Nassau woman stabbed her 4-year-old daughter to death in suburban Chicago Wednesday before attempting to kill herself. Marci M. Webber, of 118 Uphams Corners Road in Nassau, is hospitalized under police supervision in Bloomingdale, a village about 25 miles west of Chicago, authorities there said. While no charges have been filed, Bloomingdale Police Chief Frank Giammarese characterized the incident as a murder-attempted suicide and said charges are likely to come for Webber, who has had three children.

WEST CHESTER — Mason Harris Gray struggled with a broken home, drug abuse, depression and anger issues in his 19 years on Earth. But authorities say that should not excuse what he did to his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son, beating the child so badly that it suffered a lacerated liver, broken pelvis and bruises on his face and torso. “The defendant’s criminal conduct is, in a word, horrendous,” wrote Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Pitts in a memo asking a Common Pleas Court judge to sentence Gray, a former Unionville High School student, to 12½ to 25 years in prison.

HOUSTON – Authorities arrested Saturday a man they say sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl. Deputies with the Brazoria County’s Sheriff’s Office said Diamond Paul Croussaris, 37, was arrested around 2:00 p.m. Croussaris allegedly raped a child while she slept. After the assault was reported, detectives launched an extensive investigation and charged Croussaris with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

SAN BERNARDINO ( KTLA) — A registered sex offender who removed his tracking device has been shot and killed by detectives. 41-year-old Nathaniel William Henry of Lucerne Valley had been sought by authorities since he removed his tracking device on Sept. 9. Authorities say they finally caught up with the parolee in the 7600 block of Camp Rock Road Thursday. Henry is said to have threatened officials with a handgun before detectives from San Bernardino’s Specialized Enforcement Division opened fire.
