COLORADO SPRINGS – A Colorado woman has been sentenced to six years in prison after she pleaded guilty to fatal child abuse in the death of her 3-year-old adopted son. Michelle Dosdall of Peyton was charged in the March 29 death of her son Tristan. She was sentenced on Friday in El Paso County District Court.

DURANT — A woman charged with concealing the remains of her 12-year-old stepdaughter is scheduled for trial during a jury term this month. A jury term begins Tuesday and continues through Feb. 3 with six felony cases scheduled for trial. Denise Wolf, 42, is scheduled for trial Jan. 31 on charges of four counts of child abuse, one count of child abuse by neglect and one count of unlawful removal of a dead body.

Flashbacks come and go for Shaya, and she thinks they’ll eventually taper off. She takes a medication that helps reduce dreaming even though sleep, at times, can be hard to come by. Shaya, whose real name is being withheld to protect her identity, was raped and sexually abused by her father for seven years, and when the crime first came to light, no one in her family believed her. Today she’s in her 20s and in college with plans for a better future and a set of tools she uses to cope with her pain.

A martial arts instructor was arrested on charges of molesting a young teenager three years ago, Seaside police said. The suspect, Roberto Francisco Mendoza, 37, of Seaside was booked Thursday on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and recurring sexual conduct with a minor, police said. Bail was $125,000. The arrest came after police received a report earlier this month about possible sexual abuse of a teenager that had occurred about three years ago in Seaside. Police said they were told the suspect taught at a martial arts studio.

A 3-month-old boy injured at a Chicago Heights home this week died in a child abuse homicide, and authorities are investigating his parents for allegations of abuse, authorities said today. Aaron Sweatt, of the 200 block of Arcadia Avenue in Park Forest, was injured in an incident believed to have taken place at a home in the 1600 block of Ashland Avenue in Chicago Heights, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Sweatt’s death was ruled a child abuse homicide today by the office, which found he died of multiple injuries from blunt force trauma.

Waukesha — A former teacher who had sex with a 15-year-old girl he met while he was a student-teacher was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison. Bryan F. Wendt committed an egregious offense, destroyed the trust and confidence parents have in teachers, and harmed the girl when he did this “great wrong,” Waukesha County Circuit Judge Mark D. Gundrum said.

AURORA , CO – An Aurora man charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son threw the child across a room, likely slamming his head on a bed frame, and waited two hours to call 911, police said. Theodore Madrid, 30, told police that he was drunk and high on marijuana Jan. 5 when the toddler, Caden Rodgers, was injured, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Aurora Sentinel newspaper.

SOUTH GATE — Police are looking for a 20-year-old South Gate man suspected of killing his 10-month-old daughter. Police were called to a home in the 5100 block of McCallum Avenue around 5:40 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say Jose Deras assaulted his wife and their daughter during an argument. The baby was unresponsive when officers arrived. She was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where she died of blunt force trauma.

SUMMERVILLE — Amber Lynn Bracci told investigators that she smoked marijuana two times before she sought medical attention for her 16-month-old son Rowan, who would later die from a head injury, according to an arrest affidavit released Friday. Bracci, 19, also admitted to striking her son in the head a few days before Dorchester County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at 198 Rowan Drive in Ridgeville on Jan. 6, the warrant said.
